KFC was one of the first few western fast food franchises to open up in Karachi, but lost out to McDonald’s because of the spankin’ fine premesis (including a huge park) bought and developed by McD at Seaview, right next to the beach. KFCs’s trying get back into the game, though, with a brand new deal I discovered today by sheer accident.

Since McDonald’s, unlike several other franchises, does not include tax into the prices they display, I was forced into KFC right next door, but on a much smaller, almost congested premesis. What I found there was quite a surprise: a new deal on their famous (and delictable) Zingers.

According to the deal, for Rs. 200, you get two full size Zingers (as opposed to the regular price of Rs. 130 per Zinger) and if you should buy a regular coke with the deal, your drink is automatically upgraded to “large” for the price of regular. Thanks to being able to have a filling meal for four people for four hundred rupees, I am now re-addicted to the Colonel’s recipes.

I beg to differ, Kamran. Check out the crowd at both the seaview branches of KFC and McD and you see the very obvious difference.

welcome to the world of obesity and corporate take overs. these deals are what causes nations to declare national health emergencies because their people are too fat.

KFC gave me food poisoning. Then I decided to become a vegetarian and life has been blissful since then.

I one takes the pain to come out of the clifton/defence ‘enclave’ and take a look at all the other branches of KFC and McD in Karachi, he/she will see that KFC sells at the least 6 – 7 times more than McD in Karachi.

Source: I did a survey myself for one of the leading management consulting firm in Karachi on the very subject.

    – We (Paks)like spicy meat / chicken.
    – KFC’s products taste more homely/eastern but with a western presentation.
    – More food for money.
