Obsession with Online Communities

Paki’s seem to be obsessed with online communities. First it was Orkut and now Huqa. I think this obsession stems from the fact that there are so few opportunities for youngsters to interact with one another. I admit I was one of the first few people to join Orkut and send off invites to friends. Its a convenient way to stay in touch. It also helped me to get back in touch with people I had not met or spoken to in ages. But I think one online community is more than enough and it serves its purpose well.

It’s not only us. If you check Orkut, Brazil by far, has the largest number of posters on it and I think there are more Iranians on it than Pakistanis.

About Huqa, well they are just spammers. Asking their members to provide orkut ID/Password and then start sending invites to the address book. I have received atleast 50 invites in past 4 days from Huqa.

Good observation Kashif! I have observed the same thing. My inbox is inundated with invitations from this dubious site. Naive users provide their username and passwords, and it spams their contacts. I used to hate sms.ac because of this, and now huqa.com. I’m going to log in and try anyway though. Y’all do it too, but my advice, don’t be so generous with your passwords!

I registered on huqa.com just for the heck of it. It turns out that they have the audacity of asking for your Orkut username and password so that they can spam your entire friend’s list! And people are gullible (or should I say stupid?) enough to hand their username and password to such a website! Hud hoti hai yaar! Come on people… It’s not a good idea going around spreading your usernames and passwords. But I digress. There’s a sucker born every minute!
