flashing beam lights

The drivers in Karachi have learnt a new technique to annoy other drivers. They flash beam lights to the drivers in front of them so that they can pass. And it doesn’t matter if the traffic is congested and there is no way for the driver to change lane in order to let the impatient behind him to pass. It is considered extremely rude and ill-mannered to flash beam lights to the driver ahead of you, but not in Karachi. Everything is fair here. Now what am I supposed to do when I am going with the flow of traffic and some loser decides to flash beams on me? Shall I just disappear? Sorry buddy, my car can’t fly! And there is too much traffic on my left so I can’t move. Next time someone does that to me, I am going to slow down even more and I am not going to give him any room to pass. That’ll teach him a lesson.

Hmm yeah, happens here in Lahore too. Though its an improvement over honking at somebody. Still, i get scared when I see a big huge pajero beaming at me in th rearview mirror, reminds me of scenes from countless maniac trucker movies…

I totally agree with your post.

People, especially in expensive cars, think they own the entire road and they assume people will simply move out of their way becasue they have flashy car.

Idhar loog Mercedez and BMWs to lay laytay hain, but they dont have driving sense at all and on the top they will argue with you for wrong thing!

I am a patriotic and a proud Pakistani. But sadly these days my enthusiasm is going really down.

I still hope, we will be civilized one day.

    Regards,

    :)

    my reaction to them beams:

    1. lower window

    2. stick out right hand, and say “there you go”

    3. change hand motion to finger

    4. move back in front of them =D

    Ah, the flash!

The most amusing part is these flashers don’t realise that flashing in any lane other than the fast/right most/overtaking one is not the thing to do.

If you are cruising along (on karachi roads?!) in the middle lane, no one has the right to flash at you. those pressed for time can try their luck at the overtaking lane of course. but. who’s gonna tell ’em that?

btw, not giving someone way, when it is possible, adds to road rage and should be avoided.

i hated when a four wheeler cut in front of me, so i sped up and later cut in front of the offending vehicle as a pay back…and i am a cool driver!

Imagine how someone in a flashy car thinking he owns the road must react to your “I am not getting out of your flashing way buddy” tactic?

What pisses me off the most is that the guy whoz driving the slowest is driving in the fast lane…… and no matter how much you flash him, he doesn’t budge, until you put your hand on the horn for a good 40-50 sec, then he’ll move and look at you like something is wrong with you!!
