Picasso at the Lapin Agile

There’s a play going on at PACC Auditorium by the name of Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Its being produced and directed by two very talented journalists/writers Mohsin Siddiqui and Huma Yusuf. The play’s been written by the famous comedian and actor Steve Martin. The play will run till Saturday, the 13th of August, and all proceeds from ticket sales are going to the Marie Stopes Society, which provides reproductive healthcare services throughout Pakistan. Its for a noble cause, so don’t hesitate in dishing out the dough!

A bit about the play:

“Picasso at the Lapin Agile” is set in 1904, at a time when both Einstein and Picasso were in their early twenties, before either had accomplished anything noteworthy. Not only do audience members get a sneak preview of what these prominent personalities may have been like, they also get to see how contemporaries and peers of the duo would have reacted to them. Ranging from the unflappable Freddy (the owner of the Lapin Agile as well as Picasso’s bar tab), to the irascible Gaston (an elderly man with an eye for the ladies), the tableau of cast members provides commentary, insight, and droll observations into the minds of two of history’s most famous characters. And things only get more entertaining when a third figure from the pages of the past steps forward to guide the geniuses into the future.

Actually, there are no more tickets left at Espresso for either Friday or Saturday. Agha’s has them all. And apparently there will be some tickets at the door, on a first-come, first-served basis.
