Monsoon… remembered!!!

Although I was a fanatic lover of rain in childhood, recently I have been more reluctant, but still, I would have loved few good showers ñ atleast. Umarís post reminded me that two years ago Karachi was flooded with rains right from the July. Three friends had accidents that year because of those rains and it wouldnít have been easy avoiding.

Here is a picture from July 25th 2003. Take a look at my visibility. Yes I know its crazy taking a picture while driving in that kinda visibility but I wasnít seeing anything anyway.

I remember that day so well! It usually took me around 10 minutes to get home (behind National Stadium) from my office at that time (Progressive Center, Lal Kothi). That fateful day, it took me 3.5 hours! And one of my colleagues walked all the way from the office to his home in Malir Cant. It took him around 7 hours! That was a bad day, and that is why I don’t like rain in Karachi. Btw, I have some better pics of that rainy season if you want.

its funny how lahore metblog is posting about how fresh the green looks and here we are posting pictures from the past…

but i guess there’s always a reason. – and like someone already said: the underpass and the other numerous roads would have taken another decade to complete.

thats a neat logic so why didnt you jsut close your eyes and drive around. It was anyway a massive marking lot that day, you could have joined the rest ;)

You reminded me of that fearful night, me walking on the sharae faisal with water above my knees.. I walked from Karsaz (kawish centre) till the airport! and there were hundreds of people walking, some of them coming from as far as II chundrigar rd. Gosh it was terrible. Most of the people parked their cars on SF and went home in the morning till our tarffic controllers woke up and thought of clearing the roads. Well thanks to some impatient Karachiites, they went crazy and blocked the traffic by going into the wrong lanes. And there are many stories to tell about that night.. finally I reached home at 2.00am
