BBC: Reporters’ Log.

BBC has set up a Reporters’ Log to compile statements by all their correspondents based in the areas affected by the earthquake. The accounts posted by some of them are extremely disturbing, yet the latest post by Zafar Abbas has given me some hope:

Zaffar Abbas: Muzaffarabad, Pakistan : 0710GMT

Heavy equipment has started to come into the city. These rescuers also told us that equipment from Islamabad is being sent here. At the same time, we have spotted trucks are bringing relief supplies here as well. So the situation will improve gradually but now we’ve heard complaints from people that villagers are being ignored outside the city and people say many of the villages have been badly affected. The villagers are the people that need a lot of help. The authorities are trying to meet the challenge to cope with the situation but it is a very desperate situation.
