PIA – Drop Off Point In Washington DC

One of our readers Affan (p.s: thank you for posting this as a comment) got this e-mail from a PIA employee in Washington DC, please read:

Dear Brother and Sisters, Assalamalakum.

My name is Azar Abbasi. I work for PIA in Washington DC. I have received hundreds of calls from Pakistani brothers and sisters who want to donate goods for the earthquake relief. As you may know, PIA cannot accept donated goods from individuals, NGOs or associations. I am very thankful to Adam Center in becoming an authorized association to accept donations and I was also fortunate to get warehouse space donated by inter-Global Systems in Sterling. I am equally glad that Cavliar Logistics in Sterling has agreed to donate a 54-foot truck to transport the relief goods to JFK from where PIA will carry the goods to Islamabad. We are gratified for the support offered by Adam Center, Inter-Global Systems and Cavliar Logistics. The drop-off schedule is going to be Saturday October 22, between 12 and 5 PM. Inter-Global System’s address is: 22580 Glen Drive Suite 180 Sterling, VA 20164.

1. Packing requirements: Pack relief goods in sturdy cartons. The content of each package must be mentioned on the packing material. Please indicate ìL*W*Hî on each carton. No carton should weigh more than 25 lbs (since the boxes have to be physically loaded). No perishable food item or hazardous material is allowed.

2. The most important items that are needed are: medical supplies (crutches, bandages, antibiotics, painkillers, antiseptic etc.) Blankets, tents (1 tent that cost less than $100 can give shelter to at least 12 people.) Clothing: Sweaters, coats, socks, boots (The clothes should be in good condition.)

3. Space is limited on all flights so please bring only the things that are needed. Please donate generously and accordingly to the need of the survivors.

Thank you for all your support and may Allah help us to overcome this catastrophe of astronomical proportions.

Best Regards,
Azar Abbasi
