Karachi metblogger’s update
One of our fellow metbloggers, Rizvi, is visiting the quake affected areas with his team. He just emailed this update from Islamabad.
“When the government will print Maps next year, some say it’ll look more spacious. More than 21 towns/villages have completely vanished from the face of the earth. I saw the Army trying to bring some normalcy to the situation but to no avail. The chaklala base is becoming a graveyard of supplies. With only 6 helicopters in our arsenal, we expect the army to help these people .
I was at the Children’s Hospital PIMS yesterday in islamabad. I saw a child which made me cry for the umptieenth time. This girl, fizza is only 24 days old. Measured only 13 inches. Was born a perfect normal child but the earthquake has reduced her to a bundle of plaster and bandages. Both her arms and legs were broken. Her legs were suspended and all i could see was IV’s and bandages. I’ll email you guyz a pic soon .
I want to setup a small relief camp for these kids and ask people to donate Stuffed Toys, Dolls, sweets and board games for them. Infact anything that a kid would want to have. I need a contact here in Karachi who can coordinate this for me when I am in Balakot. I have distribution channel and work resources here and id want someone to take charge from Karach. Lets give these kids an EID where they dont feel alone and broken. I am also trying to setup a blog where i can post pics and do little writeups. If anyone is willing to take the lead, he/she can email me his/her number and ill call em up to talk about other details.
I need supplies as well. I will be in Abbotabad the next two days. I dont have a lot of resources at my disposal so someone from Abbotabad or someone who can come over must provide us these supplies .
If some of you know something consequential about people in these affected areas plz do let me know. If you know any survivor stories, that will help as well. There has been a lot of messaging happening lately about relief activities, survivors and displaced disadvantaged people. When you forward these messages to your friends, as a rule, forward me these messages as well. Any piece of information can help.

WOW – it too makes my heart bleed tears to see such a sorry state. Have you realized that all TV channels have started painting a pretty picture – all rosy well – aid in its proper places and the healing in process. Azfar’s report here shows the true picture. I think we should all switch gears to protray the ground reality from the EQ area.
I can donate all toys my kids have and am sure will get plenty from friends and relations. Let me know who is going to coordinate for the logistics.
what’s rizvi’s email for forwarding information to him?
its better to call him up, he mite not have an internet access there.
