Earthquakes in Karachi

Here is a very good article in Dawn about history of earthquakes in Karachi and adjacent regions.
The most mysterious thing about the recent jolts is that they are felt only in the South, aka Clifton/Defence area. Even nearby areas like PECHS are untouched. How is it possible that an earthquake occurs only in a small part of the city and rest of the city knows nothing about it?

The funny thing is that i live in Defence too and pretty close to sea too, but nobody around here felt a thing. Though some of my friends in other parts of DHA tell me it was pretty scary.
