One cold morning in a once-lovely city

This time also brings up another memory…. of last year. Exactly about a year ago, I was in Islamabad for work. We were fasting, and I got out for walk at fajr time. Loved the morning chill, the gentle awakening of the city, the serious-looking donkey “parked” at a padestrian walk! (Was he getting late for some early morning work?) What was a little strange though was the hotel van that kept crawling after me, the driver likely thinking that “madam” would want a lift any time.

No sir! Madam loved it. She loved the walk and the view of the Margalla on whose bed stood the hotel proud. She loved to sense it waking up to its then peaceful life. She loved the people. She loved that one cold morning in the beautiful city of Islamabad. Ah, the city! The city!
