Pizza Hut – Pack ’em seating

pizza%20hut.gif The month of Ramadan is never complete for a Karachiite without a ritualistic visit to Pizza Hut for an all-out pizza-munching spree. Feeling the roza pangs all day I decided to finish the day with a visit to the Pizza-Munching-Haven Pizza Hut joining the hundreds of Karachiites in the Eat all you Can Iftari Craze.

It was unfortunate that we ended up reaching the Tariq Road joint barely before the buzzer. Naturally it was a jam-packed, but the head-waiter informed us she might be able to squeeze us in (whoohoo!). In a few moments as the Azzan was blaring, and my stomach was screaming PIZZA’Z PLEASE we were being escorted to our table. Following the waiter we snaked across past the main dining area to a concealed room in the back where there were lines and lines of tables squeezed with edge to edge horrendous looking mahogany shadi style chairs. Our party of six was escorted to a table made out for 10 and were soon paired up with another group of four to share the table. Wow that was pushing it, literally had to share a crappy table with horrendous seats and no room to move, all you could do was sit still and pray the waited would reach you. ENOUGH ENOUGH frustrated at the idiotic seating arrangments like being herded into a cow truck, Fit ‘am all in ‘n sever ’em Pizza attitude we simple walked out in protest and ended up eating at Nando’s..

Personally I feel this was a horrible experience, they have lost their sense of quality and are now only trying to milk the crowds with no respect of decency. I regret to have not taken a picture since i was literally fuming to simply let you imagine it was almost like sitting at jam-packed congested sweaty joint on Burns Road.

Uff. And yes, I haven’t done the Pizza Hut ritual this time around and Ramadan has already flown away! Acha I don’t even like the Pizza Hut’s plastic-textures bread. I like Mash N’ Bangers (what a name!) and Pizze Express. Heard there’s some Pizze Experts named joint in Gulistan-e-Jauhar too which has pretty tasty stuff.

Yaaar! This Ramadan toh I have done none of that Iftari things. What’s wrong!

Even though Pizza experts [aka pizza express] has opened in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, quite near my place I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, though i’ve heard it’s quite small.

I know what you’re talking about. Pizza Hut has lost all sense of quality over the last two years. It was chaotic, claustrophobic and choking all over! The worst part was their horrible attempt at increasing seating by setting up ‘shaadi decoration’ chairs and tables. It didn’t feel like Pizza Hut at all. Rubbish! And no place for women to pray either..
