Aur…. is Geo News – Mystery solved

This is a follow up to Umar’s picture post er… and JonyBr post Aur.., later taking about this mysterious Aur billboard campaign appearing on our Karachi streets.

I honestly was expecting a lot from all this money spent but was utterly disappointed when Geo today announced it was only the addition of a 24 hour news channel called Geo News. The moral of the campaign is Geo aur Geo News. My reaction is.. so whats new – Geo is in my opinion already was predominantly a news channel with entertainment [pieces interspersed, is the creation of a 24 hour news channel ground breaking? Whosoever dreamed up this idea Aur idea, in my opinion failed horribly. What is your reaction to this development.

Watching geo news, aik din geo kay saath and then a cooking show one after the other irritated me to a deadly level. I love the idea of the 24/7 News Channel because for sure the programming would get a lot more focused now. However, the fact that channels arent really meeting targets as far as breaking even is concerned and then new channels being launched each day (Waqt, Aag, Aanch (?), Vibe, etc) is surprising. It’ll be nice to see who survives till the end of next year.

Jang Group got the money and resources to survive. To pakistanis living abroad Geo is the only desi channel which has some quality compare to PTV and Prime TV.
Would love to see the channel competing major news resources.
