Karachi Kar Spotting

phantom.jpgJust yesterday I happened to see a Rolls Royce Phantom on the streets of Karachi. An hot silver looking Rolls Royce (6.7 liter V-12 BMW engine) being trailed by a Black Vigo guard car. Sources have informed me that this Phantom is in the possession on Mir Shakeel ur Rehman (Jang Group).

The sticker price after doing an online search which includes delivery charges is close to $325,000 and include on that our local duty structure (is it 125%?) for a total of Rs 4,38,75,000 – Holy shit I can only dream of seeing such quantity of money. This is just my estimate maybe a car dealer can help us figure out the actual price Mir Shakeel might have payed for such luxury. This gas guzzler will be quite heavy on the pocket doing a casual drive around the bumpy streets of Karachi, but petrol prices is dirt change when your guards travel in style driving a Black Vigo. Do I sound a bit Jealous – HELL YEA im JEALOUS…..

It’s Pearl White, and the duty is 75%, so it costed him around Rs. 3,41,25000 (3 crore 41 lacs and 25 thousand). It was bought in New York by his son apparently.

Money: he’s got it, he can flaunt it.

but the question is–will he drive that around khi?(refer to Jamie’s blog for an an extinsive understanding of the ‘who, how, and what cars can survive in khi). i personally feel he will only enjoy the car in his garage–so much for spending 3 cores 41 lacs and 25 thousand!

Well, on a second thought, may be this is the only ayyashi he has done in a decade or so. What do we know right? May be he has spend 96 crores in charity (believe me, he has so much money) and just 4% for his own ayyashi.
Just give him the benifit of doubt guys.

Imtiaz: You do realize that there is a difference of $160,000 in the price of a Murcielago and an XK8.

I have to agree, Jaguar makes beautiful machines. Personal favorite: XJR.

Excuse my ignorance, but what the hell is Vigo?

  18. Imtiaz (unregistered) on November 23rd, 2005 @ 6:21 am

Kamran, i just love the cars….dont give a damn about the costs!!!!

    i also love the jaguar 1956 roadster…one pretty baby…..

for a USD 160k price diff, i wouldnt mind a BMW Z7 thownin..now thats what i call performance!

ooh…and a Vigo is a high end version of one of those twin cabin toyota hilux 4WDs u see? except that VIGO is the international model, we here generally use the Twin cab hilux 4wd edition…..

    just a cost diff…

    Fellow Jaguar aficionado, Cheers!

If you like the 1956 xk roadster, you must also like the e-type, the one and only of its kind. Unsurpassed beauty and par excellence designing and performance!

“Plz dont become jealous. In we r to be so persevering & we work verey hard , than InshaAllah we will be able to buy it.

unless u r also the son of Some Mir Stupid Rehman, there is no chance for u to have that kind of money

  22. Kirna (unregistered) on November 23rd, 2005 @ 7:08 pm

    you don’t you know VIGO?
    *drool*
    it’s wowness.

i could do with a hummer though.

  23. Imtiaz (unregistered) on November 23rd, 2005 @ 11:10 pm

    Kamran!!!
    my jag man!!!!

    love it!!!!

    Kiran/Kirna!!!
u should serously look at the Bowler. It was made to blow the paris dakkar rally to smithereens, and trust me, it really does. The hummer is heavy, is slower, and no matter how u rate it, seriously cant take on too much terrain and speed together. for that, you need the bowler!

    but nothing beats a jag…..

Mohammed: no ones being jealous here dude, we are just talkin about things we like…nothing wrong with that, is there?

  24. Junaid (unregistered) on November 26th, 2005 @ 11:20 pm

Is it just me who thinks this way?
I love Jaguars, Range Rovers, Rolls Royce but I would never buy them because they are British and the whole British imperialism thing in India.
Am I wrong to think this way…I mean if I was Jewish I wouldnt buy a German car.
But I must say I LOVE British cars but I just refuse to buy one…what a dilema!

  25. sara afridi (unregistered) on November 27th, 2005 @ 1:21 am

well hate to break it to u but all their cars r without number plates including a brand new BMW his son bought after recently getting married. they spent around 10 lacs on the milaad and the mithai tat was distributed only n called in singers from india for their musical show before the wedding. n u cant even begin to imagine the kind of money tat was spent on the bride’s dress n jewellery. then wat is 4 crores for a rolls royce. NOTHING!!!! for them at least
