star-struck on a cold karachi night

Of course I was at the same screening of the movie as saba last night except she got online sooner! I had planned a post with almost exactly the same title and a reecommendation just like hers to watch the moive, but now will have to take another take altogether.

Last night I was introduced to and shook hands with Anupam Kher at Cafe Flo.
I never thought I was a particularly star struck person by nature but as of late I have realized I enjoy star spotting as much the average Pakistani. Unfortunately we have very few of “those” stars in pakistan who one wants to spot, possibly because our film industry is still in a struggle phase and our dramas are too real- those “actor people” too acessible. Anyhow, meeting with Anupam Kher I realized I was looking at him expectantly almost as if I expected him to recognize me also; after all we have been meeting on my television set for many many years. And I found myself wondering which character from his characters he really is- the hilarious best friend in Lamahe, the father in Bend it like Beckham, or the villain in that movie with Sri Devi’s double role?? And as I sat in the cold cold night at the alliance watching the much recommended movie, I realized the real magic and magnitude of the change that cinema can bring- if used well and with a conscience.
