End of free internet at PC lobby

I go to PC lobby every once in a while to study. The peaceful atmosphere in the mornings help me concentrate better. Today when I went there I found out that access to wireless internet is no more free. They charge Rs. 100 per hour. What a bummer! The only reason I went there was because I could use internet for my research. Now I need to find another place that opens 9 in the morning and has wireless internet facility. I will pay for the coffee but not the internet.

Costa was on my mind too. And after 12, you can go to time out at the forum.
Yes, wi fi is free. You can check the multinet website for wi fi enabled locations.

I don’t think that Mariott has free WiFi. They used to once upon a time, but not any more.

Being in the business of providing internet to 5 star hotels all over the world, I can tell you that most of the hotels in the world are switching to wifi. The main reason is that providing internet is not the hotel’s specialty, so it is outsourced to a company which specialises in these services. These companies are the ones that charge the guests.

However, if you want free wifi, then try to head on to Mehran Hotel or Regent Plaza. Both have recently signed deals with Multinet wherein Multinet will provide free wifi to guests in return for advertising rights.

Oh and by the way, Marriott also has free wifi, but not for long I guess! Marriott and PC are owned by Hashoo Group, and both are being provided internet by the same company. If they have decided to charge at PC, they will most likely start charging at Marriott also.

Costa’s never going to serve Starbucks. It’s a chain, just like Starbucks is–serving another brand’s coffee would be like KFC serving Big Macs instead of Zingers. The Wi-Fi at Espresso on Shahbaz isn’t bad–not great, but not bad. I don’t know if the Zamzama one has access or not; the Basement Cafe off Zamzama does though, and pretty good access from all accounts.
