by (popular?) demand…

i will be posting on metblogs.detroit until june when i get back to my city by the sea. thanks to our outspoken readers (original-anon, faisal, and shiraz), who by expressing their dissatisfaction with my membership on karachi.metblogs, have served as catalysts for this change. their unhappiness with the situation was completely justified as i am not actually physically present in my bustling, buzzing, breathtaking hometown (although i am there in spirit), and i apologize to anyone out there who has suffered distress because of my presence as an author on the karachi blog.

before i part, allow me to say that the bloggers and commentators on karachi.metblogs are doing a phenomenal job. it is a pleasure to be part of this experience. this blog makes me feel completely connected to home. lately though, i have noticed some rather disturbing negative energy on the blog because of conflicting opinions and views and the manner in which they are aired. opinions are vital in a setting like this, but it might be beneficial to everyone’s experience here if perhaps we are more humane in expressing ourselves and speaking our mind.

until june then :)

    @quratalain khan

    Hats off to you for having the courage to make this descision. I have nothing personal against you or anyone else on this blog for that matter. My only concern was that rules are meant to be followed. And seriously, if one really makes an attempt to go back in the archives of this site, one can find numerous occasions on which commenters had expressed an interest in writing for this blog. They were either not encouraged or were flat out told that there are no places available at the moment.

    Moreover, allow me to say that I also love the city by the sea alongwith all its faults and foibles. I may live abroad but I visit Karachi at least twice a year for months at a time. It is my home, where my extended family is, where i experienced some of the best years of my youth attending high school at the Karachi American School. So, I truly appreciate your love and passion for this wonderful and vibrant city.

    I am sure you will be a welcome addition to the Karachi Metblog team. Until then, I am sure the residents of Troy, St. Clair Shores, Bloomfield Hills and the rest of Detroit will enjoy your participation on the Detroit site.

    QK, I did not want you to stop posting. I was just trying to be fair to everyone else here who had at one time wanted to post here or still do. It’s nice of you to understand and take the decision you have taken, but I don’t mind at all if you keep posting here. I am sorry if were a bit rude or my comments hurt you in any way.

    Faisal has already said all that I would have said, I feel the same way that rules should be followed, in everything.

    My comment on the previous QT post was held for moderation and is still in limbo somewhere, so, here’s a recap of what I said.

    Faisal: The number of authors is always changing here at KMB. I applied three times before becoming an author. The first two times, I was told the same thing that the maximum number of authors is twenty and KMB already have twenty authors. I got lucky the third time.

    Another thing that you should know is that the authors don’t have a say on who gets in or gets out. The inactive authors will be flushed out due to which now you can see that we have only 15 authors. Last month it was 12. I suggested to PPH in one of the post last month that there were only 12 authors at that time and if people really wanted to join, they could easily get themselves registered.
