Anime Convention in Karachi
Our old friend and Ex-Metblogger Misha has just sent me details of an event to share with you all.
This is the first of its kind ever Anime Convention, to be held right here in our beloved city of Karachi.
Here are the details.
Purpose
The purpose of this event is to promote Anime and educate people about Anime and Manga and provide an event. This event will be focused towards clearing the conception of the modern ‘cartoon’, thus allowing more people to appreciate this kind of entertainment.
This event will mainly cater to the otakus allowing trading, sharing of anime. It will also provide a starting point for the creation of a ‘Karachi Anime community’.
Proposed Schedule
A short duration of two and a half hours is set for this convention. We will cover the first episodes of two series for the newcomers and otakus. We will also discuss the community role and the existing work completed. The items to be discussed are:
• Anime Trading
• Community Work
Discussion Topics
Introduction
After a short introduction on our current anime group ‘HL’ and the work it has done. We will start off with a very short Anime history and present status of the industry and its growing trend in Pakistan, along with possible ventures in this industry
We will then move to the discussion of the purpose of gathering at this convention; I.E. the discussion of the community.
The focus would be to get more people to watch anime; emphasizing on its free and not available for rent status. Discussion on community roles, such as:
• Active downloaders
• Traders/Providers
• Reviewers
• Fan artists/fiction
Fan Art from members will be presented and AMVs created will be played. A large number of people are already coming already.
