Where in Karachi # 57

I took this beautiful evening photo some time ago & as I was browsing my personal galleries when it come to my mind to see how many can guess the place where i am when i took this photo. You can easily guess the area near this place but my interest is to see if anyone can exactly locate the place where I was standing when I took this photo by carefully observing the surroundings.

I almost killed myself taking this picture. I will tell you the reason later as there is a clue in it. Its very beautiful photo originally which I am afraid might not be possible to visualize. It’s a good 1+ MB photo with very high resolution but obviously edited to suit KMB. The original one was asked by many friends to email then to use as wallpaper.

Best of Luck

it’s on the railway tracks that cross mai kolachi. the view is of the apartment series that surround the indus valley school of arts. from the murky details of the picture, i can hazard a guess that you were standing near one of the 2 small black bridges that the train tracks pass through. you have boat basin on your left, kemari’s cranes and ships visible on the right. i used to kill lots of crabs in the mangroves you are standing next to, which are sadly being destroyed by all the new construction along the mai kolachi.

oh, can you also post the original picture on KMB when you’re through with this game? :) which, not to sound self-important, i recommended to KMB’s writers some time back.

Alright so almost everyone is right. In fact 100 percent. Well as for the story, it goes like this :

(Note: Photo edited by lightening quite a bit and sizing it to fewer than 400K)

I, trying to be a professional (lolzz) tried to capture the coming train engine( train ka bacha ..lolzz) from a view which will result a photo which shows this engine going into the photo from sideways thus making a stunning effect and the beautiful evening the railway track & background skyscrapers would make it a perfect one but what happened is I took a test photo which is this one that I have posted for the Blog as a question when it was far (far from my point of view at that time as I had no clue it will reach me so fast within 5 or 6 seconds. I could not calculate its speed in the darkness and was too excited to capture the “would be beautiful moment”. I had set the camera for a high resolution. After taking this test photo I moved a little closer (without looking) to the track onto the left side & started focusing for my next & final photo but I forgot that I was almost standing near to the track with one leg almost touching it. After taking the first photo the camera started loading it into memory. I, having my full focus on the LCD screen did not judged how near in the meanwhile it had reached I heard some one shouting something but I was too excited to hear anything else & getting prepared for a click but I found that the previous photo had not yet been loaded into memory and the red light was blinking to show the process was still going on. The next moment I felt something huge coming right in front me. I look over and for a moment I felt like becoming a statue with a fear of death almost hugging but I still remember that force full push by someone to the ground. When I stood up I saw my friend Ali “entertaining” me with some sweet words. Do I need to tell you what those were? Lolz

Actually, although I had, in my view, moved away enough from the track as it was in my mind that I was too near the track but what I forgot is the engine has a secondary sort of body, or you can say a body over the main part which is sort of outwards from both side ways & to escape it touching (read killing) you, you need to be at least 3 or 4 ft. away from main track and according to Ali I was In a perfect range for it to kill me with its high speed.

If you are thinking about the click that I was about to do then for your kind/unkind information I did click and amazingly Ali pulled just a half second probably before the click so the photo that resulted was that of me hitting the near by ground. I have it also but it’s just the ground and small rocks on it.
