A new shopping trend

This saturday, i went to Park Towers for having dinner out at Mcdonalds. Although its just been a week since the 8 o clock ban on shopping areas was enacted, on saturdays, malls are allowed to remain open until 11 o clock. At park towers, it was as if it was chand raat and everybody was rushing to get their last minute shopping done. At 9 PM it was so crowded we got parking a sizable distance away from the mall itself, and once inside, had to literally elbow our way over to McDonalds…

I guess we *really* need places to hang out in Karachi.. I wonder whats the status of Cineplex these days? if they get a slight boost in their earnings due to more patronage, maybe we would be a couple more cinemas going here… Atleast then people could watch MI:3 in peace.

Malls are opened till 11pm, atleast certain parts of them. At Dolmen Mall, Tariq Road, I saw the sign that ‘Sindbad’ and ‘Food Court’ will remain open till 11pm.

Government has also relaxed the 8pm restriction for saturdays. A joke, it is.

I think the shops and malls which have proper generators should be allowed to remain open. They are not using KESC electricity so what is the harm?
