Exemplary “Bad” Service!

A few days ago, I had the misfortune of going to the KFC situated at Millennium Mall for dinner with my family. Now without a doubt KFC’s chicken has it’s unique appeal and every now and then the urge to indulge emerges. We went with empty stomachs and expectations of fast service not to mention good food. What we got was the exact opposite.

We waited for our orders to be filled and it arrived with no drinks. So after another 20 minute wait our drinks arrived…with no straws or caps. The straws took another 5 minutes to materialize and we got told that their policy of covering their drinks with caps had changed and they now only give them with take aways. We bought that, sure policies change…though this one sounded fishy to the core…only to turn around and see that almost everybody else had caps. When you have kids in your group, a tiny thing like caps on your drinks become a big deal because let’s face it, kids spill drinks. So now came the time to pay the bill…since we were a large group it amounted to a large sum. We were told that the cashier did not have the authority to fill in such a large amount and only the manager had the authority to do it. Fair enough. Only the manager wouldn’t come out of his office. By this time we were ready to barge into his office and slap him silly. Luckily someone with supposedly enough authority tied up the bill paying formality.

So finally, forty-five minutes [give or take a few] after our order was placed, we sit down to find that the food is cold and the drinks are flat and warm! So in the end what we got was BAD service, flat drinks and cold food. And extremely loud music.

Their CEO’s message in their magazine assures us;

“Our expertise in fried chicken has been proven globally. You know that when you are at KFC, you will get the best of everything- taste, quality and exemplary service.”

Liar is the word that comes to mind. One wonders when was the last time a survey was held by their administration about the so called “exemplary service” that they swear by. Granted not all KFC’s are that bad but this one left such a bad taste in my mouth that the idea of trying another KFC branch is as revolting as the idea of going back to the Millennium Mall KFC.

Good service comprises of more than half the appeal of any place serving food. Even a dhabba wala knows that. I’ve seen bad service, but this one really tops most of them. Share your experiences and let’s find out which places NOT to go to.

Here is what you should have done. You should have kicked into the managers office and said that not only will you not pay the bill but you deserve an apology from the Manager. You really should complain to their corporate depart for the region. Go to their website and find out who is the regional partner and write to them.
I am not a big fan of KFC. My favorite was Pizza Hut. I miss khi’s pizza hut even in the US!

I have never had any such experience in any KFC, they usually have a good service. I agree with Unholysaint, you should write to the management , I am sure they will take necessary measures to keep their reputation.

KFC has not only gone down the tubes in service, but in general food quality as well. A number of my family members have suffered from stomach aches after enjoying(?) KFC (including me).

I too have an experience to share of the KFC at Millenium Mall.

When I went there with a fried, we ordered zingers with chicken upsized (arabian rice) ..
went downstairs the tv wasnt turned on. We looked around and there was no staff member who we could ask to turn the tv on so i got up and turned it on. Then a few minutes later one loser (crew member) came and turned it off and i asked him what he was doing and he made a lame excuse which I dont even remember now :/
we had our chicken pieces first and they were aright, drinks flat as usual, they taste like “sharbat”. When we started with the zinger, it turned out to be the sickest zinger I have ever had.. We went to the counter, and I asked the guys to replace me the burgers and they did. And this time it tasted good and totally fresh.
But soon after we went downstairs I realised that our drinks were not there.. I complained to the crew member and we got full drinks. So it does help if you complain them.

*the best place to sit in KFC Millenium Mall is right infront of the counter, next to the AC.. thunnda thunnda.

    no clue about KFC
but i went to limoncello (zamzama) last nite and it was pathetic..
they have set up the place really nice
its clean, its organised, waiters are nice to you
but food was way below our expectations..
well yea ofcourse we left comments on the comment card along with my email address on it. My friend who was with me, will call up the owners and let them know.

They used to be in that place every evening and till then they were doing okay.. even now the recipe is good but they mess up at certain things, Fish wasnt fresh.. snapper stays white when cooked right it was kinda red/brown..
Crab itself has a very good flavour and just needs a small amount of addons but this crap meat that we had was tasteless…
Lamb leg pieces were supposed to be tender and they werent..
so its all small things that they can fix up easily, but would they ??
i think its already a bit too late to do so..

OKRA and POMPEI are full during the same hours and this place has empty seats.. they better do something quick

Please don’t even THINK about ordering the pasta from Indulge located on main Kh. Ittehad (next to KFC). I had the misfortune of doing that last week. This is what it said on the menu while describing the pasta dish:

    1. rich meaty sauce
    2. melting cheddar and mozarella cheese

    what i got was:
    1. 12 odd pieces of penne pasta
    2. no sauce; just strips of processed meat and mince meat which was chewy and inedible.
    3. no mozarella , melting or otherwise
    4. packaged cheese slices cut into even thinner strips and placed “artistically” on top of the above-described concoction

It was horrendous! but wait, the worst part is yet to come….

When we complained about the quality of food, we were told by the manager there that these days they were having issues importing some of their ingredients, hence the bad quality! Can you believe that? They are actually charging the same amount for food that i could buy straight off the supermarket shelf and it would cost less and taste better!

It was a rip-off, pure and simple. And yes, in case you’re wondering, we do intend to take it up with whoever we get our hands on. Bad food is no joke.

p.s. Umer Zaman: i wouldn’t recommend Limoncello either—i ordered their Tira Misu and it came w/o even the traditional biscuit-bottom thats supposed to be a part of the dish. I spoke to the chef before the meal where he boasted about working in an Italian restaurant in NYC. So much for that. He was conveniently busy when i wanted to speak to him after the meal.

I had written to the KFC people, got back a reply today. Let’s see where it goes from here. But one thing I know for sure is that I wont be trying KFC anytime soon.

We did complain. Quite a lot. Even the mildest among us would start complaining if uve been waiting this long for your food.

And yes I have a bad bad internet connection. Sorry about the confusion adnan.

LaydeeBird, you should try the lasagne at pizza next. That and their salad is the only thing I like. Nothing beats pizza hut’s pizzas…and they know it=)
