Historic Karachi
A website maintained by a very active reader/commenter of this blog, SWA, www.historickarachi.com is a collection of photographs and historical excerpts about our fair city. It takes a reader from the very early days (from 18th century), through each era that the city has experieced, from being a british town, to being a city, to a metropolitan city right through to the current times. A very good resource for anyone interested in how our city came to be. SWA, thanks for making this website!
When i last posted on hillpark, there was a request for more pictures from the olden days by Omaer. Here you go man. Enjoy.
speaking of history: anyone reporting about Karachi Gandhi Garden’s elephant and prime highlight Anarkali passing away on KMB?
Hey Thanks Mansoor, I did check out the historic Karachi website earlier and found it absolutely rivetting, pretty good stuff…
anathema: The previous post by Xill was about anarkali.
Omaer: your welcome.
Mind blowing pictures :) Love the site
@ Mansoor: Thanks much for the recognition on the metblogs. I really appreciate it.
To other visitors to the site: Yes, please check it out and refer it to your friends and folks so that they can know more about our city’s history.
Also, if you have any old pictures lying around, or any other contributions, email them to me! I still keep on adding to the website and I would appreciate your input.
Thanks for informing us of this informative site Mansoor. I was wondering if you could write something about the historical areas surrounding Karachi such as Chaukandi and Makli Hill etc. I am really interested in learning some history about them and if possible also post some pics. I have been doing that about Lahore on the Lahore Metblogs. And I would love to see someone do something similar for Karachi also.
Raza and other LMB guys, you are doing a wonderful job there.. Keep it up guys..
