a new lesson at the islamic learning department

on one hand you have the time – juma prayers. theoretically the time when all the muslim brothers will be praying together and symbolizing peace, unity and the islamic way. this is the time of the week when people put on their finest clothes, starched and ironed, leave from their homes or work places with nothing but good thoughts in their minds. on the other you have the place – the seat of learning in the metropolis, karachi university. and on top of that we’re talking about the islamic learning department. the one place even in a university where you would expect nothing but moral and spiritual doings.

but then you have the perversion that attacks our people like a plague, corrupting their minds, polluting their souls.

this news report in dawn highlights once again the misuse of authority, corruption, character flaws and disgusting perversion of your averge karachiite. the beating that the guy got is not even half the punishment that he deserved.

lock him up if you can’t find the grounds to shoot him.

The culprit is stated to be an official of the dean’s office of Islamic Learning! zabardast he thought he could get away with all that in the name of Silam or moe likely bcos of his being an official, i guess :S
Dr Akhlaque said students should not take things into their own hands. Now someone should ask him if things really get done with inquiries and the so-called official channel.

Now where is that pizza hut mob when you need one.

There was no investigation on this case. We do not know who is actually innocent ” the girl or the employee”. I hope we can refrain from passing out verdicts. This also helps in decreasing anger and encourages reason and justice.

“lock him up if you can’t find the grounds to shoot him”..

Xill..your approach is very much like the Mobs who burn the city down. And I believed that the Mob problem was only with the illiterate. The report says investigation still has to be conducted on this issue. Better we wait for justice.

I object with the title of this post. It was an individual act and nothing to do with the islamic learning dept.

Xill , I told you earlier that you are a drama king and this post is a true example of that. What that incident has to do with friday prayres or Islam. That was an individual act but just to act like more secular , you would drag Islam in it. Get a life dude, you have serious issues. By the way how old are you ? If under 18 then I am sorry, I’ll take back my comments.

I think the guy got the punishment he deserved.

“lock him up if you can’t find the grounds to shoot him.”

We need to steer clear of extremist statements in the metblogs. Nowhere in Islam is such a strong punishement advocated for eve-teasing. I dont even know if theres a punishment for that at all! Its a wrong thing to do and the guy got beaten up pretty badly for it.
THE METROBLOGGING STAFF NEEDS TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE IN WHAT THEY WRITE ON THIS FORUM! Advocacy of extremism in any case should not be tolerated.

@ kashif: your objection is duly noted. the idea is that any office bearer is a permanent ambassador. so if the guy was responsible (and while i acknowledge the existence of the “if” i find it a hell of a lot more of a probability than the girl raising a false alarm)so the name of the department will necessarily get dragged in the mud.

@ swa: nowhere did i suggest that my statement was based on the shariah. i take your point though – it may have come across as a case for extremism but in my books, and this is my opinion you understand, an act of eve teasing as utterly reprehensible as an all out rape. especially if it was really conducted in the manner it was reported to be.

@ yo yo: i agree to an extent. we should wait for the result of an official enquiry. my approach however, is not the mob approach. the mob would have burned down the whole department. i however suggested that the responsible official be punished.

@ poo poo head: frankly, your comments don’t merit a response. if you would care to go through all of your own comments on kmb, you’d see that you’re the one with the issues and it seems to me at least that you have issues with each and every thing that any author over here has to say. maybe you’re the one who needs to start acting like an adult.

Xill. I might have problems with every one , I donot care as long as I have my own view and could present. Once again go through my comment and tell me what it had to do with Islam and friday prayers.I know that you would run away because you do not have any answer.Dont hide behind “your comment does not merit respond”.

I understand your anger and in no way do I condone the harassment meted out to the girl by that guy, but proper justice demands that a crime be treated strictly for what it is. This is a clear case of sexual harassment, not rape.

@ swa: like i said, my opinion only. you’re entitled to yours, i’m entitled to mine. cheers mate.

@ poo poo head: since you insist on being an immature retard, go through the this carefully. there is a concept of “agency” and another one of “agency by estoppel”. while both are strictly legal terms relevant only to contract law, their spirit is based on all pervading logic. it is called simply, “embassy”. as an official of the islamic learning department, you expect the person to be a muslim. moreso than your run-of-the-mill average person in the street because he is involved in an institute set up with the purpose of teaching islam. at the time for juma prayers you EXPECT such a person to be in the mosque – not in compromising situations with young women. he, more than you or me, is an ambassador of islam (though i’m sure you’ll find some convoluted logic to dispute that, simply because i’m a metblog author) and should behave accordingly.

further, as you rightly say (something which you very rarely do) you have your own opinion and you can present it. well i have that right too. that is the cool thing about metblogs. but if i’m such a drama king, why do you even bother reading my posts? you don’t have to you know.

  12. YO YO (unregistered) on July 31st, 2006 @ 7:53 pm

Xill..Support staff of the university is not hired for one department. Their services can be used at any department. The teaching staff are the only people who need qualification in the major subject taught at the department.
I believe in your right of opinion. But looking at the world affairs Islam bashing even in unrelated events has become a norm. Your post somewhat takes the same approach. I believe it is people like you who can make a difference by taking a more responsible and factual stance.
Otherwise I like your posts keep blogging and posting…take care :)

hey drama king , I know that you must have read business law but you lack rationale.

“as an official of the islamic learning department, you expect the person to be a muslim.” Ha ha ha . He was a support/admin staff , not a professor teaching Koran there. So he could be any one like jewish , hindu or what ever. So your base is wrong for what ever you said. Waste of space. You must be in marketing and/or finance so you lack serious logic. you could just do more drama or two plus two.

I guess Yo Yo has summarized much better what I was trying to say. Why do I read your post because then I could warn/prove people that you have nothing to say. Do polling and I am sure 70+% would agree with my point on this post. Its nothing personal my friend , its just business. Deal with it

“nothing personal, just business” i bet you felt really like a mafia don when you said that didn’t you?

    grow up kid.
