Only in Karachi #10: Haunted house on hill park

Somebody suggested having a new series on KMB about ‘only in karachi’. “It would be accompanied by a picture and some comments. It would be something peculiar to Karachi. Something that makes Karachi what it is. Hopefully, something we love about Karachi.” Update: Kiran pointed out that this series is already running, and has 9 posts on it. So this post makes it number 10.

So why not begin this with a wonderful post on All things Pakistan by Owais Mughal titled “Haunted House on Hill Park” where he recalls his adventure of going through this place in his formative years and the effect it has has on him.

As our irises expanded and we got used to the light, we started walking very cautiously and in a line according to Mr. Bhoot’s instructions. Suddenly from left side something came flying in the air and hit one of my friends right on his face. It was a human arm, torn apart from the shoulder blade and soaked in blood. All of us shrieked in horror…..

The torn arm used to be a dirty piece of cloth when I was in class 4. But this place is very small and is only for the very young. Hopefully we can have a decent sized Haunted house ” with respectable audience ” hopefully in the city.

I usually carry a camera around with me and have taken several pics of ‘only in Karachi’ kind of things. So where or through whom should I post them ?.

Thats hilarious – i had a similar experience with the flying arm a few years back. I was there with some cousins – and when the arm flew past over our heads, i hit the deck coz it scared the sh*t out of me! A few minutes later we saw the guy who had pulled the pully to swing the arm, who was also pressing buttons to create the scary noises!! – when he realised he had been spotted he got angry and pulled a curtain so that we could not see him – technology at its best – only in karachi!! – love it!
