azadi couture

one of the few advantages of being an overweight mid-twenties beancounter is that you’re not exactly expected to be with it. so if you show up at the office in a faded green “flaggy flaggy” shirt no one bats an eyelid. but most of the guys i passe on my way to the office were in white kurtis and blue jeans racing their silencerless bikes towards the general direction of quaid e azam ka mazar.

what’s your jashn-e-azadi fashion statement?

Whenever it comes to ‘azadi fashion statement’, I am always looking out for the local version or a replica for a T-shirt that was launched initially in the States by a Pakistani there. That T-shirt was plain green – the genuine Pakistani flag color, not the cricketer-green that we see today mostly (light green). The shirt had its white sleeve in pure white. On the left, right atop your heart, there was this white cresent and star that makes every Pakistan’s heart race with love for the land. The statement, of that T-shirt, was an embodiment of the Pakistani flag and that the ‘chand sitara’ is right there in the heart of the one who is wearing one. Perfect indeed. Anyone know or have seen that shirt in Pakistan? Can we make a replica here?
