Comment of the Week – 1

Get angry or feel amused. Say some gaalian or cry on our leader’s (in this case the ports and shipping minister) scarcity/dearth/shortage/ETC. of sense. In any case it’s the joke of the Week at KMB & target is Mr. Ghouri. I found it too funny, not to reproduce.

He (Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghouri) said that it was the world’s second largest fountain that had been constructed for the poor people of the country who could not afford to travel to Switzerland. He said that a large number of people visited the fountain with their cameras to enjoy the evening

Pity on us for having such a sick vision guy at that responsible position.

Pity on you MB. There is nothing wrong with that statement. You might have gone to Europe or you might have watched it on TV/internet or you might be watching a lot of holly wood movies but you can not deny the fact that there are lots of people around us (about 80%) who does not know what is switzerland .If you think from their perspective then that fountain is great(I have not been there at sea view). Could you deny the fact that its poor man high to have a picture at sea view. If some one is coming from interior sind and he has not seen aeroplane , could you blame him.

Get a life and broaden your view. You are not the only person living in this city. Just try , try lil harder to get others’ perspective, believe me you would have wonderful life then.

    Pissed off at weather !!

PPH u missed the deal! Instead of heightening the life of Poor the govt is very much after shashkas. Miillon of Rupees must have been spent on that fountain (and large faction must have gone into politicians pocket as well), if those rupees could ever been spent on Basic ameneties of the city then you would not be cursing the govt after stucking in the traffic for 5 – 6 hours.

Ahan, I see. I got your point PPH. Wow, so you say we should sped RS 300+ million, just to tell people how Switzerland looks like. I am impressed by your vision too dear. God help us.

As for a guy coming from Interior. So you will make him see this fountain to give him an Idea of Switzerland. “very Impressive”. He is a fool like our minister that he will come from that far to see that fountain. Amazing !!

Was not he suppose to come from that/any other far area to Karachi to have a good future for himself/family etc.?. What good that minister actually did to make a good future for him?. Nothing. Dear brother, 300 million is some amount. And that too specially for our country.

    DESI bro:
Govt. is after shashkas because no one sees what you are eating but what you wear. The govt. is making sure everything look green from the outlook. Opening the floodgate for imported cars. Making mega projects. Chanting the slogan of Enlighted Moderation (in clumsy form) is all part of the drama on stage set by beloved Musharraf while the ordinary man is still in same shape he was decade ago, or may be worse. So he has a point to say we are progressive country or at least on that road. And why USA or EURO bhai bother when he is all with them in that terrorism episode.

Having said that, we should admit that we are seeing quite lot of activity everywhere for the first time. A lot of good work is also going on, at least for our being fool’s sake. We hope they plunder this nation a little less then the previous ones. And yes Musharraf is the least bad guy among worst. So we are with him. By the way do we have any option?

Did you guys notice how Switzerland comes to Minister’s mind when he thinks of entertainment? So nowadays it’s the major holiday destination for govt. officials. Last I check Switzerland isn’t famous for its fountains hmm but it does have banks.

One can build a fountain or whatever but please not in poor man’s name. It does only tell waht kind of pea brains running the country.

Come on guys , dont spoil my night. Do you really think that fountain was created to show switzerland to poor people.

Read again my comment , I said clearly that “there is nothing wrong with statement” . Neither me nor minsiter meant that it was created only for the purpose of depicting Europe. That was just a statement to tell one of the side effects of that fountain. I still stand my place and would ask you people to think from other angle.

MB, I am very serious and would like to know your educational background so that I could portray you better. I am having serious issues in sharing your vision.

And after reading marium and desi comments , I realize that I do not belong here :-) you
people are too innocent for my likings :-) Have fun. Only 11:42 pm and still so many things to do :-( Keep me company please tonight

Swiss bank remind me of an incident. Everyone knows that all the ill/evil money goes to Switzerland especially of our Senior Govt. /Army officials, Business man & other “do numberi” money people. When Shaukat Aziz went to Swiss tour he requested them to have a branch in Pakistan as well. The reason? For poor people ?. PPH may again say yes but the rest of us know why.

  9. Poo Poo Head (unregistered) on August 18th, 2006 @ 12:12 pm

I can bet for 20 bucks that this “virk” is MB himself :-) . No one in his senses would come out and start writing in caps. And I have seen MB writing in caps several times here and not many people write in caps. :-) MB you made my night seriously :-) now I could work for 3 more hours .. ROFL

I hope you have had his degrees checked and its not the same case as with ‘Dr.’ Amir Liaquat whose PHD degree, by which he calls himself a doctor, turned out to be issued by online ‘university’ which is not even recognized in the country in which it operates.

Please also read the bio of Dr. Amir at Wikipedia as below:

or simply write the term “fake degrees of Dr. Amir Liaquat” in google and see how many results you find.

I think that neither POO is wrong nor MB.Both are actually walking on different paths.

I second POO that Minister used “Switzerland” for example only.Didnt we used to hear stuff like “Karachi ko Paris Banadain gay” by old govts or “Roti Kapra Makan” crap by so called Shaheed Bhutto and “ASian Tiger” stuff by that bald nawaz Sharif? What’s wrong if he used that term?It irked MB coz Babar ghori belonged to MQM.Kion MB is it not right?i have read your anti-mohajir comments in recent posts.

There is nothing wrong to provide good entertainment channels to poor people who could enjoy his ‘Switzerland’ by travelling on 4K and 4j Buss from Surjani town and new Karachi.Elite class has got enough money to go USA ,UK every year for enjoyment so whats wrong if it was done here?

@MB:nothnig wrong to spend so much stuff on this fountainain as the budget of your pariment, president and PM house is infinite times more than a budget of average Pakistani.BTW 300+ millions Rs spent on this foundtain?i didnt know that.

    Roti Kapra Makan

Isn’t this all poor Pakistanis need. You can’t even find anything equivalent said by other leaders. BTW millions also fell in love with his other slogon Ghas Khaey Ghey Bomb Baney Ghey. I too love General Zia’s Fair and Free Elections in 90 days.

You didnot know that right ?. But now you know it & you still think the waste (300+ million) was worth it ?.

I didnot know that ki aap “mohajir factor” itni duur se soch ker laaingey. Anyways, i am against the political leadership when i say/said regarding our brothers. And in this context i was trying to tell how much eager our politicians are to make sure their money is safe so they asked the Swiss to open a branch here.

Recreation and resorts are also one of the basic human needs. I feel happy for the poor workers who after the whole days works see that fountain and say in whatever of the following is applicable..
“kho amara mulk taraaqi kar raha hay..”
“wah bhai wah, kinna sohna lagda aye”
    “dadda suthwa ahay”
and of course, the karachites, shall be proud of it :)
lets make all the cities of Pakistan more beautiful and clean.
with cleanliness and beauty around us our minds will become more positive.

  21. Poo Poo Head (unregistered) on August 19th, 2006 @ 12:30 pm

MB , do you really think Shaukat Aziz asked Swiss bank to open their branch in Pakistan so politicians could transfer money easily :-). Is any one listening to MB ?? I like you MB but please dont test my loyalties.

MB:hypocricy is bad thing.tht post was already created by cy and i find no other reason but that mohajir factor which tempted you to make this duplicate post.Sorry to say but I would like that you prove otherwise.

  23. MB (unregistered) on August 19th, 2006 @ 8:22 pm

Adnan, There is no way left to convince you. Swearing is not my style & as for the question, which is very appropriate one, I have already replied in initial lines that I found the comment from the minister too senseless to reproduce. If due to any reason you found it otherwise, accept my apology. By the way you can clearly see i have given credits to CY.

Instead of spending 300 million rupees on freakin fountain our govt can do something to improve poor person’s life.I dont know how someone with family of 5-7 members will afford (transportation)to come and see that fountain.I found this link where internet will enable villagers(farmers) to cut middleman and sell their crops with greater profit.

Okay people here is the link.

  25. Adnan Siddiqi (unregistered) on August 20th, 2006 @ 10:05 am

MB:Its not matter of conviction.I find no reason for the post other than i mentioned.Swearing?who was swearing at you.Yes you do use some terms which comes under the category of swearing but it doesnt matter here. What i always notice that you target a particular party and evils of it.Ignoring the shits of other parties and past politicians.Saying 1971 as “different story” is pretty ignorant statment as tht was the biggest terrorism happened in our country by NON-ALTAF members.Noone would take you seriously if you keep making racial and biased statments.
