Eidi Collection Drive – Day 2
Another day, another couple of boxes. Things are slowly trickling in. Yesterday, some friends came and donated a carton of biscuits and a carton of toffees! Thankyou!
From yesterday, also our TV campaign started, not only on Indus TV as originally expected, but on all major TV networks in Pakistan including Geo, ARY, Indus, Hum, Aaj, Tv2day and others. Im expecting the most response to come on wednesday and thursday for this effort. Those who caught the ads said they were really good. If you do happen to catch it, let us know how it was.
Also, we got enough stuff to start making Eidi packets. We’re filling them with a packet of chips, one or two tiki packs and a couple of sweets. Enough to not be too little, yet small enough to cater as many kids as possible.
Looking great. Thats a good drive you are doing and i hope many more pick it up around the country.
Post the Ad on youtube if you have it.
Are you taking cash?
saad: i will if i get it.. thanks
tomato: yes, any cash we get, we will purchase things from it to make more eid packets. Contact me on adenwala@gmail.com or my cell 0321-2046693 and we can set it up.
Mansoor v good effort your doin there. If i was in karachi would had done more then donating.
Please forgive me for this. I just cannot help myself.
“Mansoor v good effort your doin there. If i was in karachi would had done more then donating”
“your” should be “you’re” and “then” should be “than” and “had” should be “have”.
People, this should’nt be too difficult. It’s basic stuff.
On a positive note, Mansoor, kudos for taking the initiative and making the effort. Great job!
@ Faisal, yaar unfortunately the price of shipment is often more than the price of good here. And to make it on time before Eid — forget about it. Plus im no bill gates to donate a container’s worth of goodies. I will however do my part in spreading the word around. That’s why i asked for the video of the AD.
@Faisal: Sir, the correct contraction is shouldn’t with the apostrophe between the ‘n’ and the ‘t’ (in place of the ‘o’)
@English nitpicker
I never claimed to be perfect. Thank you for pointing it out.
But honestly, one of my pet peeves is the incorrect use of “then” and “than”.
Faisal …. “Its basic stuff”
@mansoor why did you folks started it all from scratch,you could have volunteered with any NGO already working in the area,that would have lead to better utilization of resources…. plus one more thing, don’t you think tranportation cost of these Eidi packets would be high and it would have been more feasible to shop for these items in pindi and pack them there…
@Faisal you seriously did’nt expected every one here to be PhD in english did you? it simply doesn’t matter as long as the message gets across…
doctor: i agree, it would’ve been better that way.. but from the way we’ve seen NGO’s work… it wasnt for us. But, we are working with some people already in the area for lists of affectees to whom we can send the packets.
Secondly, collecting cash is a much more difficult task than collecting goods, people are more forthcoming with goods.. so it had to be collected and packed here..
thirdly… we’re from Karachi, and whatever energies we spend, we can do it here.
@Faisal : LOL – ‘its basic stuff’ :)
Doesn’t that make you feel like giving up?
@Original-Anon,
It’s a lost cause. LOL!
Giving up has crossed my mind but it’s the same as driving by the scene of an accident …. one can’t help but look.
@Faisal – I know! The irony here is just killing me:) And to think that only you and I will know why this is so outrageously funny. Oh well, I shall take comfort in having a little private joke.
Great seems like good stuff … Hopefully till 20th you ppl will have enough to bring to EQ areas ..!
Keep up!
