“who and why has given what to our city in the last ten years ? ”

Jamash bhai, please pardon me but I don’t understand the “why” part of the above sentence.
How can a “why” “give” something?

    Mai Kolachi

Auntie Kolachi kicked off the whole saga and gave Karachi it’s name. She even has an entry in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mai_Kolachi

Edhi gave what he is giving to the whole world. Devotion to public, respect for humanity and service, giving the govt. a slap ( his hands must be tired now ) and asking it to wake up, coz this was all suppose to be govt. duty in a Islami falahi mumlikat.

Politicians gave all sort of ills because they had intended so. They also gave us Mushy baba that is better than them.

Sportsmen gave pride & joy with all ups & downs. The only thing that keeps us happy.

Our ministers gave billion dollar bills and asked us to pay and we paid because they had all the means to fool us & we were too ignorant to protest.

The media gave us a sense of participation and finally we got rid of a cartoon called PTV. It also gave us a not-yet-defined term enlightened moderation, which is shown when ever, on any channel, without any specific timing. The last time it came with a name Lux Style Awards.

The models gave us freshness. When we are tired looking at people like Durrani or NA speaker or deputy speaker we switch onto them.

The religious scholars gave the much needed guidance to the common man on channels mostly from Karachi.

Karchiites gave a green signal to cellular companies due to their share in sending SMS messages (useless mostly) spending 1.2 billion rupees (PTA stats only for 2006). Add it to previous 9 years stats. And you should get 3+ billion figures.

Muhsy gave us dollars, to be used on himself, his army and his men. Gave Karachi’s common man some sense of participation though local bodies system ( jo abhi tak toh khadday mai para hua hai filhaal) He gave us Wanna Waziristan etc. But he kept us safe from Nawaz, Benazir, Altaf. Many thanks for that.

The akhbar wala, doodh wala’s & roti-roll wala’s performed their duty devotedly, daily, all over Karachi consistently.

Our gareeb awaan gave their blood, & money to pay the expanse of hukumraan. They also played their part in corruption, lawlessness, dirt all around Karachi, knowingly or otherwise.

The Newspapers (standard ones) gave us what they are supposed to, doing their task properly. The 2 ropay walay akhbar too gave their readers what they could in 2 rupees. A fleshy pic or news regarding a haseena being abducted and a horror movie punch line as main page headline.

Industrialist gave us their part in taking inflation to limits. The stupid awaam gave them a green signal by buying mobiles, cars and not-required kharafaat (instead using resources on health and education) to fool Mushy who quoting the same told us Pakistan is progressing.

The top Army lot gave dictatorship and the lower ones gave what they have been giving. Their lives to safe guard the mother land.

PTA gave us a fool package evident from their 500 years old system. The along with ISP’s gave us so far so good internet connectivity.

The parliament gave us a technology called surround-sound which only works when benches are hit, hard and fast or when any opposing member speaks.

KESC gave us the best mental training possible through their rigorous load shedding training programs starting January and continuing anywhere anytime without bothering. Thanks you KESC. The citizen gave them galian and at times machis ki teelian when angered to limits.

The present CDGK is giving up a mix package of agony and happiness. But It has miles to go before sleep so let it finish first.

We, though at our infancy tried our level best to present Karachi at it is, inside and outside from the perspective of Karchiites, succeeding and failing at times.

Children ….their prayers, the “raunaq” beacuse of them and above all hope that we associate with them…Hadn’t it been for those innocent lil creatures, nature would’ve taken no time to topple Karachi upside down…

ME. and people like me who stay here through thick and thin (and not for lack of choice either), who contribute and wouldn’t call any other place home, and who have the courage to carry on bulding the next generation right here.

Can I say NimatUllah Khan (Previous Nazim of Karachi) tried to put few things together. Beautify the city little bit.

  14. suhail (unregistered) on November 24th, 2006 @ 10:05 pm

    @Imran
Yes of course u can say that, he was declared the best mayor in asia one year of his tenure, i think it was the trend set by him, that mustafa kamal also continued, what i mean is that in other cities local bodies still dont work the way they do in Karachi. Both of them did ( M K is still doing) great.
And of course, the credit goes to Mushy, for brining the local govt system.
I also would say, thanks to Altaf, that he changed his direction from “lissani” politics to more national one. Karachi is much more peaceful now, with all people from different areas of Pakistan living happily together.
