New Flyover Opens up

Partially atleast.

The latest addition to the ‘signal-less corridor’ from North Nazimabad to Sh-e-Faisal, is now partially open to traffic. The side from Stadium to Sh-e-Faisal can now be traversed within a minute instead of waiting at a signal which you can only get through on the third or fourth light. And its pretty cool too. You get to see the planes on display at PAF museum as you reach the high point. The contracters are now in the process of recarpetting the tracks from Karsaz Gate all the way upto the flyover, so expect some more distubances in the coming few days. The best part about this flyover? Its reduced my time to get to office from 12 minutes to under 8 minutes.

Previously, on Eid Day, the Flyover on Hasan Square also opened up to traffic, and has made going to and from gulshan a lot less troublesome.

It may be ‘cool’ for those who go over the fly-overs but for majority who travel on the side roads, it is hell of a journey. The road that leads from issa-nagri to hasan square is a mess. One has to inhale lots of dust while passing through the bumpy road. I wonder why they are not repairing it.

Well ….certainly a useful addition to Karachi road network.

Secondly,it was reported in DAWN Newspaper that Karachi Nazim MK have directed all the contractors to remove construction debris from the sides of all roads and flyovers being constructed. Furthermore, in the future due diligence will be given that construction debris isn’t left behind on the sidewalks after construction…a good step on part of the nazim and hopefully action will follow his words too!

Besides, not a word abt programs being arranged under Hamara Karachi and the walk neither abt hows sanitation work was conducted after Eid-ul-Azha…Is KMB running short of ppl or ideas?

@ ali , i raised the same point about Hamara Karachi program … no coverage what so ever!

Kudos to the CDGK for the flyover projects being completed in months rather than years! eg liaqatababd flyover took 7 years!

work on the side road started but as usual no signs were placed and people have to reverse their vehicles when they reached the end intersection and found the road closed :)

I was wondering, where is the money coming from to carry out these projects.

If we are taking more loans then can we pay them and if we (khi) already had this money and nothing was ever done then wht was going on before.

By opening of Hassan Square Flyover traffic will increase at Jail Chowrangi and Numaish Chowrangi. Why City Government not considering opening of Preedy Street Project (from Quid Mazar to Saddar Dawkhana, almost 80% road work has been completed) This will benefit who wants to go Saddar, Clifton PIDC etc….
