Bagh-e-Ibn-Qasim

Another one of the new parks being developed in Karachi. This place looks amazing when driving by at night. Even though it still isn’t open to public (and i dont know if it would ever be), its amazing just to look at. They’ve got lighting everywhere, pathways, trees you name it! And in the middle runs Lady Loyd Pier which has been given a facelift and looks pretty much like any roman gateway! The old toyland theme park has been done away with and this park replaces it. It is also touted as “Pakistan’s Biggest Bagh“, constructed under Clifton Beach Development Project on 130 acres of land.

Now that is BIG! I’ll try to get a picture of this place which truly does it justice. Till then, a view published by Dawn.

yeah, but the harsh white light makes the park unbearable. it also has smaller, softer lights along the walkways, but someone probably figured a way of simultaneously using more electricity and keeping the more amorous of karachiites away.

There is no doubt that it is BIG, infact it is humongous.

Don’t you think the Clifton mela, with all the joy rides, the aquarium and play land was better ?

The joy rides are already installed, and the aquarium will be rebuilt according to the plans….

It’s not a bad effort though. There are always some problems in the beginning. I hope they resolve them quickly. It’s a good thing they didn’t commercialize that area. We need more parks in Karachi.
