Potholes you love

If you’ve lived in Karachi long enough you must have encountered potholes of different shapes and sizes ready to gulp in a vehicle or a padestrian. Some of those potholes we get so used to that it becomes our nature to drive past it with accurate precision.

So how about we document all such potholes. Point out your favorite pothole in the comments section. A flickr link to the image would give you bonus points.

Oh man I love this post.. lol. My favourite is Bahadur yar jang road, its a less than 1 KM stretch coming from Guru-Mandir to Soldier Bazaar signal with more than 12 potholes…. Fun ride…

On a serious note, I just hate it!!

The stretch of Shaheed-E-Millat Road in front of the Bohri Jamat Khaana. What’s ironic here is that they patched it up after the July/August Rains. Patching up was pathetic to begin with, virtually impossible to drive over 40 km/h without jumping all over the place. Now, it’s somehow eroding away, so you have these lovely tiny craters forming within that patchwork. It’s worse now than what it was to begin with. I have to use that road quite frequently everytime I want to go from my society to Bahadurabad. Becomes a real pain…

How about the main road of Bhadurabad. Especially, the newly carpeted road in front of Dawood School. It is one full-cratered road.

Tipu Sultan Road, especially the section between the KMCHS roundabout (HBL) and Shaheed-e-Millat Road. That is one annoying patch of road (if that is any way to describe a road).

I am a frequent user of these two, hence, my annoyance.

Road from SF to Sindhi Muslim round about passing in front of Gulistan School. It’s been a real mess since long.

at least i can’t LOVE those potholes :)
there r obviously lot holes not covered and u never know when a lid just vanish when u wake up in the morning. Once i was really fortunate to scape from such hole. I went to Delton Market for Hot & Spicy roll in night. It was really hard to get a proper parking and i was searching for that. Luckily got one at a dark area, where power generators are placed just in front of the entry road if u r coming from Saudi Ambassy and turn left on the wider road. I parked the car in reverse and ordered for the rolls. A flower selling boy then informed me to be carefull when leaving and pointed out a really BIG opening in the road which was not an inch away from my car’s left tyre! I m sure it is still there and u can check it for verification!

Its amazing how much one gets annoyed by potholes but when you actually start to count them you find there aren’t as many as you would expect them to be.
    My list of honourable mention:

    1. The turn under FTC flyover towards Kala-pul. Lots of lovely Moon-like craters :)

    2. The road leading to Cantt. station. Its like a minefield.

the road b/w bagh-e-ibn-qasim and beach park near bilawal house :S

*almost* swallowed up my car once :S

Yeah…the FTC flyover potholes are a real pain. They ‘patched up’ those too a couple of months back. Wonder why that patching-up washed away.
    -rolls eys-

Also, when you’re moving towards the airport on Shahrah-e-Faisal, and u go under the FTC flyover, in the right lane, the roads uneven and u usually have to slow down or switch lanes. That tiny portion also becomes a major pain.
