ok, i’m confused

despite the continuing law and order crisis in karachi – yes i’m talking about the slot on the metropolitan page where they update the number of cellphones and cars stolen everyday and the part where they report the discovery of dead bodies and stabbings and driveby shootings and aerial firing and the fact that a guy going to offer his juma prayers has to at least consider the possibility of some extremist avenging the death of some obscure tribal leader in fata in a a local karachi mosque and the fact that no one seems to feel any safety in the presence of the khaki and gray clad law enforcers and that even the prime minister doesn’t feel safe moving about in karachi without an escort of at least twenty mobiles in his motorcade – dawn reports that shaukat bhai is satisfied with the law and order situation in sindh.

interesting. i wonder which sindh he was talking about.

    Excellent post XI
That dumb head is talking about the same invisible Sindh which every PM & gov official start seeing once they are in power. Those stupids awake from the dream when some one takes their cloths off and they are no more in AIR and hit the ground. Then those morons start worrying about the common man i.e suddenly they find themselves in opposition. And this lasts till they are there. Once they are in power, they again go into hibernation.

    nice topic!

well you and MB put it nicely.

i was hear on the radio today, while going to office, The The federal ports & shipping minister Mr.Babur Ghauri has appealed to the Mushi to dealy the election at least till dec, 2008 or jan, 2009 so that the developement projects they have started could be completed!!

i haven’t heard anything mnore stupid then this!

i think he meant that the commission which is due to him for approving many projects would take more time so that the elections should be delayed!

now what can u call this? a democrat, representing a democratic party asking a general to postone elections! iam not balming MQM only, PML is doing the same thing!

i really wonder y they blame the armed forces of interfering in politics! these politicians beg them to interfere and if they do not get a piece of the pie then they start crying and making noises against the army!

one more point. i guess Mr.Ghauri can sense that mushi is about to strike a deal with PPP and in that case he would not need MQM in the future and definitly he would not gEt the same ministry even if MQM remains in the gov as they won’t have the blackmailing power anymore and the govt in sind would most likely pass to PPP!

It’s so obvious people. The Sindh that the PM is talking about is the one that he gets to glimpse sitting snugly inside his armored Mercedes Benz. Can’t blame him for that can we now! I mean anyone would be in utopia once sitting in a car of that class.

Then of course while PIA (Planes In need of Attention) languishes the President and PM have received an Airbus from Qatar which they will use for their own travels! Nice…

But on a serious note the President is in deep shit these days…

Ghauri just need some time so that the port tower tenders are passed during his tenure is office as minister… he is just interested in kickbacks and commissions and obviously he is having the time of his life.. so he comes up with flimsy and lame excuses that caretaker govt won’t be able to continue properly all the development projects… if his logic is applied then elections should’nt be held at all and Ghauri should stay as minister for life to take care of development projects…

qatar gave that Airbus to people of pakistan… but sadly it’ll be used for VVIP travels… mush and shortcut aziz already had expensive planes at their disposal including business jets but its sad they’ll use this one too.. instead it would have been nice if it would join PIA fleet and fly to Europe where EU has banned all but 7 planes from PIA…

@ put all our politicians in an old PIA 747 and take out it’s landing gear!

may be the next crop would be a bit better. we have to burn this one. it’s infested!!

All you anti-musharraf commentators must compare karachi of today with that of the past. Cellphone snatcing and street crimes are common in every cosmopolitan city. Karachi’s law and order used to be defined by bomb blasts in mosques and foreign hotels. The last blast we had was in may last year. So we have already had a 10-month peace-period (thank God) which btw is the longest since 9/11. Its all the more important because in these 10 months all the other major cities of Pakistan (including Islamabad and Lahore) have been rocked atleast twice by bomb blasts and rocket attacks.
The glass is definitely half full for Karachi lets pray it remains so.
