Jheel Park Cleaned Up

Jheel%20Park.jpeg Today I was surprised to see that the Jheel Park located in PECHS has been cleared up of all encroachments in preparation of rebuilding the entire park. This is a 25-acre piece of land which had over the years been encroached upon by a number of illegal developers hence leaving behind only 10-acres for the park.

In a decisive move by the Karachi Mayor Mustafa Kamal who visited this place on 23rd March he had promised the local residents that swift action will be taken to clean up the mess. I have been told that within four days a massive operation took place cleaning the entire place of all types of illegal development and also removed the make-shift housing arrangement made by the ‘charssis’ who had been living in this location for a good many years. On driving by the location from Shaheed-e-Millat road end I was for a moment shocked but then pleasantly surprised to see such a wide open space that will soon be converted into a much needed park.

Very True, it is unbelivable but it is happening. The people of our neighborhood were not aware of such operation, but when it started in wee hours and continued non stop, the 1st idea to us was…. OH GOD, land is GIFTED at penny price alloted to some PRO GOVT Builder and another 2 years we have to move out from here.

But now our naiyb nazim is asking us to step forward and help him & the city govt, by contributing our time, efforts, ideas n be part of Jheel Park Rehabilitaion program.

It seems to be fresh start for area,

Thank you Moustapha Kamal. Thank you City Govt.

Come on boys, we havent had Mustafa Kamal and MQM bashing in a while. This is probably one of the best post to do it. Mr. kamal prob gave that land to pro mqm builders. He cant be doing it for the people of Karachi now, can he. There has to be an ulterior motive. Any guesses.

Remember the good with bad people.

While not sounding too pessimistic, I am expecting to hear about a new mega-story residential + business complex build up in that area.

I saw it all on GEO and i guess if the motive is on sincerity i am all for it. Well done MK.

But as KASHIF pointed out if its for some “mega-story residential + business complex build up”, then we shall soon see the credibility about the sincerity going down the drain.

So so far so good. At least the charsi and the shit is out. Will there be any compensation to those who were removed ? Should there be ?
