Local Train impeding Traffic!

With the construction work at the I.I.Chundrigar road progesses at a painfully slow pace, getting to work is getting increasingly frustrating.

For those working after the Habib Bank Plaza, the only way is to take the city station flyover and go parallel to the Chundrigar Road, through the railway crossing, towards the M.T.Khan road, back again though the railway crossing, and out from Bank Al-Falah Parking.

Well, easier said than done…!!

The first point of bottle neck is the city station flyover, which is grid-locked due to traffic in both directions. It takes around 35 mins alone to access the flyover!!

Then, the infamous Circular Railway train crosses at an unbelievable speed of 2-5 km/h max!!, during which the traffic backs up to uni plaza, all the way from the railway crossing!

The whole ordeal will take you around 45 min from HBL Plaza to the Bank Al-Falah parking if you’re lucky!

In my opinion, the Circular Railway timings should be changed to off-peak traffic timings till the completion of the road construction.

The Karachi Circular Railway seems to be the only train in the world that stops for cars crossing the track and beggars / churssis dwelling the track!

they’ve opened up MA jinnah road for two way traffic as well uptil that police station(what’s its name?) … and the real bottleneck is created when the traffic is diverted right and the oncomming one way heavy traffic coming from city court towards tower is stopped…

I agree about the train. Awesome point you’ve raised here, Farrukh! I use M.T. Khan Road on my way back from work — usually after midnight — and even THEN traffic queues up to patani kahaN when the train’s passing. So I can imagine what the situation must be like during peak hours.
