Brace for traffic jams in May!

Nagan Chowrangi, Gulshan Chowrangi, Johar More and Millenium mall Chowrangi will all go under the drills and hammers to make way for 4 new flyovers that form part of Karachi’s second signal free traffic corridor, that will connect Nagan Chowrangi to Shahrah e Faisal. It is anticipated that this project will be completed by the end of the year.

God save Karachiites from crazy traffic jams….in this weather!

this is good as well as bad
what i use to say is that let all the karachi have a leave for 6 months ! close down all and every thing in karachi for 6 months and let CDGK dig and fill each road or what ever they want to do
i know it can’t be done but at least i have the right to present my thoughts :P

@ Udass: On my last visit to Karachi back in Dec/Jan I gathered they had dug up NEARLY every road in Karachi – So I don’t know how worser can it get if THAT was not bad enough!

Man. That’s like the epic-center of my world. Looks like I will have to work on alternative routes. :/

How can they will fit a flyover at Johar Morr?
I mean is flyover the only solution. They look so ugly. Cdgk nay Lego kay pieces samjhay hoay hain, jahan traffic jam hai, wahan flyover laga do.

And they never consider how the flyover will affect Shell Askari or Millenium Mall. Somebody should sue CDGK.

@ sufi for what.. for building a flyover at johar mor.. Do u have any other alternative for there..

There are malls and gas stations at every corner of karachi.. so just becasue of the business of those places.. you cannot sue or stop construction… of any where..

on my way back today i noticed that every street light on route was open in broad day light… i mean
on one hand we’re facing severe power shortage and on the other hand things like these are happening…
stern action should be taken against those responsible… but alas who’ll take action.. whole system is screwed up from top to bottom…

look on the positive side: there is no underpass on this corridor (or is there?). Underpasses usually create more incovenience during development whether in rains or otherwise.

my last visit to karachi was in jan 2005, my family lives in gulshan-e-iqbal near cricket stadium. I cant wait to go back there in dec 2007. I hope these new flyovers have reduced the traffic jam in these areas.
I was totaly against of building all these flyovers at once. because I could not trust that they can finish the job quickly. but now I really am in favour of 4 new flyover projects (if they really do as quickly as the previous job).
