Danka Karachi

Ever wondered what to do on a weekend? Ever found yourself out of options to go out? Ever wanted to have a central place to know what’s happening around the city?

Well now you don’t need to worry about any of that. Danka Karachi lists the events happening in Karachi along with venue information, hours, and other details. The aim of the project is to create an index of events that happen in Karachi. Although the focus is mainly on culture, pretty much everything can be listed at Danka.

So next time when you are wondering how to spend Sunday evening, just log on to Danka and see for yourself all that the city has to offer.

The website depends on user contribution, so if you want any event to be listed at Danka, just submit its details and it will be online.

Great work guys – should definitely be bookmarked.

Do you guys have a WAP version yet? as that could also be a great utility for people on the go

Address and Contact info should be right next to the venue name. Other than that, good work.

I wish I would have known about this website when I was in Karachi a few months ago. Nonetheless, nice work!

Awab, I think SMS/email based alert system would be better than a WAP version like I set my preferences once and then keep reciving alerts otherwise it’s pretty boring to visit a site daily.

It’s always nice to see some positive feedback. I would like to mention one thing here. You can go directory to Danka Karachi at:

(and/or if you happen to visit Lahore: http://lahore.danka.com.pk)

@Teeth Maestro: True that we still don’t have WAP version, but we have it on our to-do list, just that there weren’t enough requests coming in for WAP version. If you can fluster us everyday with an email, who knows we do it sooner! :P

Btw, the complete overhaul of system is in progress and you’ll notice a much-more mature version of Danka in a couple of months time.

@Adnan: We discussed about that but would rather need some assistance (technical and financial) for SMS-alerts thingy. If you have any ideas, shoot my way. For the time being, RSS may help you out a bit I hope.

So yasir when are you getting the Islamabad version up and running?

  18. Yasir (unregistered) on April 28th, 2007 @ 5:04 am

@Self: Well, we need a motivated and committed team in Islamabad to start Islamabad version. There’s some serious work involved in assembling a city team, and that’s why it took us some time (with some other inevitable reasons) to start with Karachi.

However, if interested people come up from Islamabad, we’ll wait until we’ve a basic team to start the version. I’m myself an Islooite, so can’t wait to start Islamabad version!
