Double Standards

http://karachi.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/05/maymb/ad-jang-thumb.JPGA hypocrite is the kind of politician who would cut down a redwood tree, then mount the stump and make a speech for conservation” (Adlai Stevenson )

This ad was also required when newspaper wrote about disappearances, women gang raped & when a 12 year old girl warned on setting herself on fire in Karachi if relatives are not set free by agencies. Someone who accuses the Army of injustice in 90’s should have been the most concern if not involved about this issue.

It was also required when Gulzar Begum was begging for justice ? When this letter appeared accusing one of their own men & even they wrote to President Musharraf. What about Major Kaleem case in which major party men including Altaf sentenced 27 years in imprisonment?

Who will answer the questions in the book Karachi: A Terror Capital in the Making by Wilson John . There is always room for absolution if a serious change at the top is attempted & new faces with clean record lead.

Is there any official answer to paragraphs like these in the book:
” Gradually, the MQM’s militant wing, the Black Cats, composed of 5,000-6,000 hitmen and notorious criminals, rose in stature. Carjacking, land grabbing, illegal construction etc earned them a massive annual revenue and the selfsame techniques of violence were copied by sectarian outfits to kill Shi’ites. The MQM’s extortion coffers overflowed and abetted the party’s remarkable gains in successive elections “

sounds like a comedy script. how much musharraf paid for this job? did he send a cheque or money order to Altaf?
seems like history is repeating itself. musharraf under estimated the chief justice just like nawaz sharif under estimated him.

This is a never ending subject.

base line – MIGHT is RIGHT

gradually PAKISTAN is becoming a country (mis)managed by Mafias. in shape of political parties., manned by regional Commanders.

the Biggest Mafia :) People in Uniform., they conquer the country whenever the exchequer is about to cut short on their salaries.

even after retirement they want to occupy the civilian jobs, special vacancies under special assignments are created, and no one can challange.

MQM – who created it., then who sponsored them, now who took them onboard, etc etc etc.

It is not only about MQM, all ethinic parties are created by the Khakis to divide the country right from Manora to Khunjarab.

Before Ziaulhaq – there was only Two main stream National Level parties of the country. People’s Party and Jamat Islami, all other chut-puts were regional and had no significance anywhere to dent in national assembly or else the provincial assemblies.

Zia regime, and we are in a spin called vicious circle,

May Allah Save Pakistan and bring it out of that SPIN.

12 may CJ is comming to Karachi and lawyers and opposition planning to welcome him… on the other hand MQM will also be organizing anti CJ rally in front of press club on 12th may… may Allah help us all..

I am disappointed with MQM this time. One expects Altaf Bhai to have supported the CJ cause but if not at least to have remained on the sideline. This overt opposition is both cheap and I presume goes against the sensibility of the rest of the nation. May be an opportunity to get General’s nawazshaat?

  7. d0ct0r (unregistered) on May 8th, 2007 @ 2:32 am

well its their style of syaing “thank you” to the dictator who has given them free hand in sindh.. during BB’s time in power they should they true face and BB had to take action against them.. during Nawaz’s final days they again started showing their real face by killing philanthropist like Hakeem Saeed etc and trying to blackmail the PM… on the other hand Mush just gave them free hand in sindh.. where convicted governor patronizes criminals and terrorists from governor house and facilitate them and help them in their criminal activities..

if ever accountability of Mush’s govt will be done then this question of giving free hand to MQM(a known terrorist group) would be on the top

    :).

@ Umair Salman, stick with 89. (RadioActive) Radio 91fm is the second best IMO. Less bs & more music.

  14. d0ct0r (unregistered) on May 8th, 2007 @ 1:06 pm

@irfan people are scared of MQM coz of intolerant attitude of these terrorists.. they’ll kill you and then strongly condemn the incident and next day they’ll call for a strike grieving your death …

closure of News channels for hours just shows what kind of mentality they’ve.. “either you’re with us or otherwise face the consequences “

  15. UZi (unregistered) on May 8th, 2007 @ 1:21 pm

Yaar as far as I remember, the MQM’s “commando” wing was not called black cats. I can’t remember the exact name right now, but it definitely wasn’t Black Cats… :-\

….Oh wait! :P. (Think southpark to get the above comment).

Loved the Part This was when the stories of miracles in Saudi Arabia got currency, and the “saint” leader’s images, complete with the mustaches and dark sunglasses, started appearing on tree leaves and mosque tiles. .

I guess things didnt go in favor of “Pir Altaf” otherwise he would have announced himself some sort of god or at least mehdi like Gohar Shahi did.

    @Adnan

That wht MQM fights for, getting karachi its rights. I guarantee if it werent for them, there wouldnt be much in khi rght now.

Incase you havent noticed quite a few industries were moved to Punjab in the past few decades, not because of the situation in khi but because our bara bhai (punjab) wants it that way.

Someone asked why are ppl afraid of MQM, I am sure some might be, but I am also sure more often then not ppl say they dont like MQM but they know Khi needs it.

I agree MQM needs alot of improvement and this means getting more educated individuals into the party. All this will hopefully happen over time.

  23. Adnan Siddiqi (unregistered) on May 8th, 2007 @ 11:15 pm

Concerned, are you alright?? the City Govt has set the new price rate not FEDRAL govt!. Do you know who runs City govt?

Incase you havent noticed quite a few industries
were moved to Punjab in the past few decade

no second thought on that matter but did you ever ponder why didn’t it happen reverse? that is, punjab industries shifted to Karachi? The punjabi lobby in Pakistan is as strong as jewish lobby in US. If Punjab didn’t move to Karachi then entire blame doesn’t go to punjab, locals like MQM kept playing role of traitor and kept itself busy in terrorist activities. MQM couldn’t even help us to getrid of quota system. The govt increased the quota duration for next 20 years. Their other demand of return of behairs from Bangladesh. Yet biharis have been suffering in camps for last 35+ years. The entire generation grew up in camps.

It’s MQM’s impotency that they couldn’t solve major issues which they raised during their election campaign. MQM still live in 90s when they were at peak and people didn’t know their real activities. Now they know that people know their real face so they use violent activities to force people to follow them.

“Incase you havent noticed quite a few industries were moved to Punjab in the past few decades, not because of the situation in khi but because our bara bhai (punjab) wants it that way.”

Just for THAT comment, you sir are an idiot.

And as usual the mqm tatoo’s start punjab bashing when all their other “We are so good, admit it….ill hurt u if u dont….Pleasee!, Why wont u say we are all high and mighty?…WHAAA!! :'(”
    bs fails.

MQM kidnapping workers/owners, charging bhatta & many other terrorist activities moved the industries to other parts of the country.

And I know Sharif dint do shit for khi, but u cannot say that the city was neglected in PPP’s tenure.

It is said a a theif always leaves something behind, for people to follow his trail.
Hiader Abbas Rizvi, talking to Dr. Danish on a private TV channel, reffered to additional registrar Supreme Court, with such hatred that atleast my iquisitive mind definetely holds MQM
connected to the murder of Hammmad Raza.
And the body language and facial expressions of Waseem Akhtar on Sajjad Mir’s programme also speak volumes of MQM’s “couldn’t care less” and his “i will do what i want”attitude .This must be the democracy practiced by them, their leader Pervaiz Musharaf, and that of Edi Amin, not mine.
