Karachi Metroblog on Twitter

twitter.pngThere are so many web products being launched on a daily basis that it becomes mind boggling to filter through the good and the bad. Twitter is most definitely not a new name to the Internet and has continued to capture the imagination of millions of mobile and Internet users around the globe. Quite surprisingly it is fully available in Pakistan but has not yet captured the zipping fingers of our SMS crazy nation.

Twitter is new social network that integrates mobile phones with the web. It is a way for keeping in touch with your friends no matter where you are or what you are doing, if you have a mobile phone you can update your current status by simply sending an SMS and literally all your friends will get updated with your message. You can also subscribe to a number of news alerts and they will be sent to you for free. Head over to my blog to read a more detailed explanation about Twitter in Pakistan

I have taken the liberty of creating a few news channels for Pakistan and more importantly a channel for Karachi Metroblog which will alert you on your mobile phone as soon as a new post appears here.

Join the Karachi Metroblog Twitter profile at http://twitter.com/KMB to be kept updated

Some other news channels that have been created and will be of interest to our readers are as follows

Karachi Metrobloghttp://twitter.com/KMB
Lahore Metrobloghttp://twitter.com/LMB

These following Twitters Channels are not yet associated with any feed but I hope to engage these feed to provide updated information on happenings in the city. Sending an email to the corresponding address will reach me and I will try to ensure that spam does not filter through this channel and is limited to the happenings of the city

If ure in Pak, how do u plan to make it work Adnan? (btw, as far as i know, unlimited invites are now reserved to the few early testers. The new one’s get 3 invites each)

Put your name on the waiting list, it takes about 45 days (They are supposed to send new invites mid june).

    Or you can try this:

(I cant vouch for em though)

OR the best way imo is to go fish on the neowin forums, best way to get invites :).

    What are you doing? :P

You can barter an invite for another beta, but most will sell u one for around $10.

hope it’s not fake? I remember when orkut was in ‘Invite only’ mode, several naughty guys made websites and asked users to subscribe their emails which later become reason for spamming.

If ure in Pak, how do u plan to make it work Adnan?

sorry, I didn’t understand your question? why will it not work in Pak?

Speaking of technology and then Karachi. I would like to share the product made by our very ancient reader Farhan or Schwalf? Go to url:

He has uploaded the video as well for the better understanding of his project. All I can say, WOW!

Farhan did tell me about the project few weeks back. Sorry farhan I couldn’t keep this in my “pait” after reading the blog entry about the project. Once again, well done!

I think his project should have a seprate entry on KMB. When Imtiaz can highlite my little effort on this blog then farhan’s work is infinite times bigger than mine.

    sorry for comments spam :-)

I meant if ure in Pak, the constrained bandwith will make joost unpleasent.

Even SD doesnt always stream well on my 256 WC, anything less will just be more painfull.

As I said, I cant vouch for them.

Prefer not to give out my e-mail ad’s unless absolutely necessary, we all get enough spam as it is :). (+ no one wants to be a target of a phishing scam).

Good use of time by your friend. Gl with it.

Google earth now offers the ability for “User Mapping” i.e you can help expand their maps by marking landmarks & inputting roadnames add’s.

Hopefully enough ppl contribute to it to make the maps “usable” (i.e on the go).

Oh btw, he was connected right??
