Midnight tactic or Construction work ?

Its midnight, local time, in Karachi. We were coming back after evening shift & as our van reached Mazar-e-Quaid we saw 6-10 guys standing in complete darkness in the middle of road while a big crane digging the whole road from left to right on both side (to & from Mazar).

We changed our route but God knows if this was some construction or a midnight tactic to stop lawyers reaching Mazar. Few months back there was actually some work going on there but it got completed. Frankly the timing & the way it was done (full left to right), done quickly, silently & at midnight got me inquisitive to inquire here if anyone from that area knows about it? How come our gov become so efficient to be serving at this time & without any sign boards or lightning. May be they just started the work & may put a board later as I pray that it turn out to be some construction but one more incident made me think otherwise.

I came home & decided to post this immediately but KESC jumped in. Now, during last one hour i was in balcony & i could hear continuous firing from a distance place. It was probably Nazimabad (NZ chowrangi nearby i guess) somewhere but i failed to figure it out properly. Before KESC jumps in again just a reminder that the next two days may be though for people who live near Mazar or MA Jinnah . Be careful & Be alert.

Mind you there are other routes possible but the most convenient & planned one was this route through Shahra-e-Faisal.

Well done MB – well done – this is what I call real live blogging – and I think for Patriotic Pakistanis Saturday will be a BIG day. Its an important day to decide if you are for Pakistan or against it.

The govt WILL try anything to make sure they can diffuse the CJP rally ANYTHING.

I state now if anything GOD FORBID happens I and the people of PAKISTAN will hold MQM and Musharraf direct responsible for it. NO IF’s and Butt’s no excuse of terrorist threat etc – its MQM and Musharraf who have to ensure that the CJP rally goes peacefully.

I am told they have warned their areas to come to the MQM rally or else and the govt is gearing for a massive round up of leaders ‘pleading security concerns’ either on Friday night or Saturday morning.

The spot light is on Musharraf to back down and let the events go by without a hitch as a mess would only take him deeper into shit

Your info is old. The gov is NOT WARNING MQM but it has already done some drama. MQM has got itself in trouble now. They cannot naraaz MUSH else the Secret Files will open & someone will go Jail again ( anyone, remember 90’s ? ) Wait for next post now.

iam not sure about this but kashmir road near by has been dug up for laying down of sewerage pipes…for quite some time….

BTW,why nobody is taking notice of the time difference of exactly one hour between the actual karachi time and the comment time here at KMB..??

Wasiq – the KMB servers are located in the US where there is the issue of Daylight savings time in effect which kind of messes our posts here by an hour – just take it in stride ;)

on my way back i noticed MQM workers with ladders tying MQM’s flags on signal and poles..

while on another road a van with loudspeaker was calling people to join CJ’s rally..

also noticed MQM’s and Jamat’s camps at different places in the city..

also noticed around 150+ police mobiles outside governor house.. seemed like governor convened all the security officials to discuss saturday’s plan…

  7. Kashif (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 4:03 am

Section 144 implemented in the city. Does this mean mqm is also unable to setup their camps for the rally?

Off topic but today I got stuck in Saddar where angry shopkeepers burnt a kesc vehicle and blocked traffic to protest against load shedding.

I think MQM just outdone themselves. What exactly are they so afraid of, or will get out of this? Even General’s other boot lickers are not trying that hard.

  9. Petarian_88 (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 4:22 am

MQM is the biggest bootlicker of Mush. they owe evrything to Mush so now it’s pay back time.

but MQM should remember one thing! Mush would be gone sooner rather then later and MQM would have to face the music after Much is long gone, the samy way as they faced the mucic b4!

i am afraid there woud be blood shedon the 12th and the MQM + Mush would be 100% responsible!

in any case Mush has proven to be the most loyal Altaf bhai supporter and vice versa!

i was in pakistan/karachi in April and it came as a big shock when i saw MQM londas riding a police mobile openly near teen talwar. they were so dheet that one was even standing in mobile roof!

i had never seen such a sight before even during PPP and Nawaz govts.!

By reading this post and the comments I can’t stop laughing.I haven’t seen such type of paranoid people. KMB represents Karachi not your’s personal views. You guys have your own personal blogs put this post there or should we change the name of the KMB to AMMB (Anti Mush or Anti MQM Metblogs).

All “MB” post are against Mush and MQM. In his all post there are 80% comments of Teeth Maestro and Doctor.

I dont like Musharraf and MQM either. It doesn’t mean I post anything with out even see what is the truth or not.

Well these are my two cents. I come to KMB to gather information about Karachi not your personal views about any political party.

thats why I usually visit Professor Adil Najam’s ATP. I think he is the best blogger of Pakistan.Nobody curse in ATP. Here people start with curse and then end the comments with curse.

PS if “MB” has his own personal blog please let me know I want to see his personal blog.

  12. striker1 (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 5:52 am

guys the post was about the diging at midnight not the politics crap so if some one knows what really happened !!! Just shot !!!!

  13. Khakan (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 6:51 am

I totally agree with pakistani. This blog is occupied by few MQM and Musharaf haters these guys have nothing else to do other than blaming and cursing MQM for everything. I think these comments are not their own opinions. They are running planned propaganda against MQM. Can you guys deny the fact that the arms were introduced by jamatis in universities and colleges long before APMSO was created? Who runs the terrorist training camps in the name of Kashmir? Remember Alzulfiqar and PSF terrorism in old days? Just name one political party in Pakistan who is playing a fair game? We all know the truth and let me tell you something really true, no matter how much propaganda you do in this blog against MQM Karachi was, is , and will be the city of MQM lovers.

If you guys are so sincere with Karachi and have so much pain for the people of the city then do something about the city other than just sitting in the Air Conditioned rooms and complaining about the system. If you think that MQM cannot do this then come up with the platform and gather people to resolve the issues. But you know what that requires lots of courage and efforts which I don’t think any of you has.

Well I know that I am just wasting my time because all these haters will come up with counter post against mine because that is all they can do, talk negative, think negative and curse MQM.

You hit the nail right on the head with your comment. You are absolutely right…some of
these KMB authors have made this forum into
    their personal soapboxes.

Your comment just did not register; you agreed
with Pakistani’s comment yet you did exactly
what he was criticising which is to inject your
personal views and affiliations into this forum.

  15. CitizenOfKhi (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 7:41 am

Its not just MB or Tm or Doc, if you will come to KMB you will find many ppl blaming the govt. for the corruption, the reason is pretty clear, if you love your country you will crticize the ppl who are responsible for spoiling it.
So far I just have seen ASH who is pro govt. I dont know the reason behind it … may be he/she is a son/daugh of some govt. officials … whatever the reason is.

@Khakan, This is the first time that I am reading your comments I haven’t seen you before at KMB so your comments are of no importance for me. Same I would say about Pakistani, to me it seems like somebody has spread the news saying that ppl are gossiping against mqm so you guys should go and see whats happening, thats why I think you are here.

Mqm guys are mostly uneducated and they might not be using internet (although one should not have to be well educated to use the net) thats why we dont see much of the ppl taking their side. Infact they offer to join mqm only those lofers and mawaleez who dont have any jobs and who are goons who can show any kind of badmaashi, have no sympathy for others, can harass ppl to get bhatta for them, can torture to anybody no matter how old they are. If you will see around your area you will find only guys in mqm who are goons and will have tt with them. I know that all political tattoos are like that, but the way mqm’s cartoons behave with normal ppl its ridiculous.

There was a time when army personnel use to hate mqm, and the day they have entered into politics they have shaken hands with them, the reason is that atleast in Khi they dont have to worry about, bcoz of its economy which effects the whole country.

@Pakistani, You can also vomit over here at KMB whatever you want but you cannot say someone like “I am not here to read your comments”. You came here by yourself nobody has asked you.

So I think although your nick is Pakistani but you are not a real Pakistani.

He’s out to discredit the “Eternally loved” folks of our government for he knows only they can stop Xenu from using “soul catchers” & forever banishing us to the volcanos of Hawai.

Oh L Ron Hubbard. Save us!.

I could write a page in response, but u said it best, stop wasting everyones time & continue your lessons of “courage” :)

  17. Khakan (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 8:11 am

@ Citizenofkhi (you should change your nick because I don’t think you deserve to be a citizen of Karachi). Your comments are so ridiculous and tell everything about your personality. Just open your eyes and look around you will find the truth. Actually you know the truth but you just don’t want to accept it. You may have degrees from some institutes but you sound so JAAHIL. There are so many educated people in mam and actually mqm is the only party which has Graduate Forum and for your information mqm is the only party which did not have a problem with finding graduates when it came to issue tickets for national elections. The reason you don’t see people taking side for mqm in these blogs because they don’t want to waste their time arguing with people like you who would never accept the truth.

Nobody cares what you think and what you do because you don’t even count. Just look at yourself in the mirror before calling others uneducated, you will find a JAhil BTW what is your education? You must have gotten some doctorate I guess (in Jahalat)..

  18. softjoint (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 8:36 am

Too may times I’ve read here about Karachi haters threatening the people of Karachi once Musharraf is gone. They are threatening the people of Karachi with the same kind of killings that happened in the ’90’s when 15-20,000 people of Karachi were killed.

Here’s what I say and hear it well. You dogs will die as surely as the people of Karachi. Either you won’t be left alive or you’ll have to move elsewhere. Keep that in mind next time you threaten the people of Karachi with death.

Obviously the West is trying to bring Benazir Zardari into power. The USA is probably funding the ex-Chief Justice (who’s a PPP supporter). No surprise that BBC is trying to play the “ethnic card” to discredit Musharraf. Very clever.

  22. Red_Munk!! (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 9:28 am

Maybe if the ethnic card doesn’t work then the BBC/CNN will try to play the Shia-Sunni card which worked so well in Iraq. However, in Pakistan ethnic hatred is very powerful. Anyone who can play this card skillfully can destroy Pakistan very quickly.

@Khkan, Thanks for your comments about me, calling me Jahil and giving no valid reason behind it.

If you would have carefully read my comments I have written about all pitthoos who are cartoon (whom they call carkun) that they are all uneducated, I didnt say that their MNAs are uneducated. So now tell me who has the doctorate in Jahalat ????
But you know what I will not call you jahil I will call you ignorant … its not just you … there are many ppl in Khi who are infact not violent but are ignorant … although they know that the party whom they are supporting … they can kill them without any reason or for the sake of their own benefit.

I am 100% sure that you also know how much violent and injustice and insensitive they are, I have soooo many examples just giving you an example how they treat ppl during Eid-ul-Adha … they kill ppl just for the sake of skin of an animal if they resist??? thats so horrendous act.

Why ppl are so afraid of talking about them in public ??? Because they know that their life would be in danger, ppl have filled with hatred in their heart for mqm. So think before you say anything.

    Dear citizen,
:) …LMAO….I am not remotely related to anyone in the govt. I happen to be a liberal and a realist which should explain my defence of both Mush and MQM. I am also secular, leftist and feminist, i’d support anyone who furthered those values even though in pakistani politics its mainly hypocrites vs schizophrenics and any support to my beliefs is pretty casual. Still you have to be on someone’s side. And before you cast someone aside you’d better be happy with the replacement :)

  27. softjoint (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 10:53 am

Since the PPP supporters here look back at the time of killing the people of Karachi in the 90’s as a golden age maybe the people of Karachi should do the same thing to the PPP supporters now when they are out of power. Take revenge on the PPP for the damage it has caused Karachi:

    – Nationalization of Karachi industry
    – Nationalization of Karachi schools & colleges
    – Quota system aimed specifically against Karachi
    – Killing thousands of people in Karachi in the 90’s
    – Destroying Karachi

Time for the people of Karachi to rise up and take sweet revenge. We know who they are.

  28. Adnan Siddiqi (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 11:05 am

MB, Well do you have any proof that it is NOT a real construction work. In Nazimabd area, construction companies have worked 24 x 7 to complete different projects. If this is a tactic to create hurdle for CJ rally then it’ another childish attempt.

I seriously dn’t undertand what MQM is trying to achieve here? can such lame moves help to defame CJ? I seriously don’t think so. Infact such sissy attempts by mushaarraf’s workers[MQM,PML-Q etc] are becoming the reason of popularity of CJ. IMO, CJ couldn’t get more coverage if Govt had not reacted severely but Mush’s move are as lame as Bush’s move against muslims which in turn become reason of more opposition.

Today near board office nazimabad, I saw a banner “Quaid-e-Therik Altaf Hussain Rahbar-e-Millat -o-Shariat“. Sooner or later MQM supporters will make Altaf bhai another “Gohar Shahi” and peer saab’s prophecy will be common in future.

Altaf hussain seriously reminds me era of Saddam hussain, another dictator who hijacked entire Iraq. People had to listen it unwillingly. On other hand same Saddam was reason of violence in Iraq. Just like Karachiites,Iraqis were helpless infront of him and coudn’t say a word. MQM’s attitude is not different than Baath’s party attitude who consider themselve above than everyone else. The world witnessed wht happened with Saddam, caught like a rat and executed like a crimnal. Har siyah raat k bat Subha zaroor ate hay.

Watch this video of Saddam. Isn’t Altaf like his elder Saddam? :-).

  30. d0ct0r (unregistered) on May 11th, 2007 @ 12:12 pm

some people are complaining why MQM is being discussed too much on this blog.. well its pretty simple.. MQM affects the lives of karachiites on daily basis in a adverse way … just take example of that burning of KESC truck in saddar.. when KESC’s incompetence affected the people , they came out and vent their anger on streets.. whereas most people can’t vent their anger against MQM openly coz of its intolerant attitude and brutal retaliatory tactics ..

i guess it might be because its not feasable for him to block it now without getting mre rediculed in the west for not being enlightened!

It all affects the city. So, I don’t see anything wrong with it.
