Street Art – Shair o Shaire

Even though we dont have much in the form of street art here in karachi, we do get some pretty neat shair-o-shaire at times. This one, uploaded by umemlicious and suggested by asma is a prime example.

Atleast its better than all the political slogans lining the walls nowadays.

    Dear brother Akram.
I personally feel same way as you do in terms of what is going on in Pakistan.Unfortunatly our people are true bay ghiarat they have deep inferiority complexes they act like brown englishmen.Just like Azad Kashmir and the Sunami
these events are coming very fast to the rest of our country.
People have forgotten where they come from specially our Chowkidars(Army brass)they are the true parasites living off this poor country.
The rich are acting like Firhauns.Inshallah they will and must pay the price some how.
Keep up the good work and I love your blog.

Could we get a translation of the poetry for those whose Urdu is a little shoddy.

    Thanks.

    KMB Authors,

    REF: Dan’s comment

Why not make it a competition and see who can come up with the best translation. Who knows this could turn into a series.

    Dan,

I’m not a linguistic but I did it anyway to give you some idea. Beware this version didn’t even do half justice to this beautiful poetry.

My heart is not virtue of your love
It’s innocence isn’t ready for this faith

I only asked for your photo not you
Am I not even be worthy of your photo

Heart got heart and life become beautiful
Someone got jealous and someone prayed for me

Some people reached their destination as soon as they left home but I remain a nomad whole life.

    @NEENA….i think its fate….

    how about this one?

Heraaon hain lab basta hain, dilgeer hain ghunchay
Khushboo key zubani tera pegham hee Aa’ay
    ……
    Lumhaat-e-mussarrat hain tasawwur say guraizan
Yaad Aa’ay hain jub bhee ghum-o-alaam hee Aa’ay
    ……
Taaron say sajaa lain gay rah-e-shehar-e-tamanna
Maqdoor nahin subh chalo shaam hee Aa’ay
    ……
Kya rah badal nay ka gila hum safaron say
Jis rah say chaltay tere dar-o-baam hee Aa’ay
    ……
Thak haar kay baithay hain sae-e-ko’oe tamanna
    Kaam aa’ay toe phir jazba-e-nakaam hee Aa’ay
    ……
Baaqi na rahay saakh ada dasht-e-janoon key
Dil main agar undesha-e-unjaam hee Aa’ay
