Sleepless in Karachi

When electricity stops, people tend to find other solutions. Some buy generators, others…

Although i wonder what it would be like, i would never like to try it myself.

Did any one c the racist Drama of GEO a few days back, the name was ” Chohraha” i hope i spelt it right in english.

I was simply horified to c how clearily it showed Urdu speaking gondas making fun of all punjabis and saying that punjabis did not do anything for the creation of pakistan….

i cannot write the 3rd rate rmarks in any more details as they would be construed as obscene!!

what bothered me most was the clear racist nature of many of the dialogues!!!!

Well this racist drama CHORAHA was created by Punjabi director & producer, whose main idea behind it seems to create this feeling among Punjabis. Should media be as free to that extent to create such nasty feelings/ opinions among the masses? Showing such sensitive topics to such sensitive audience… dont they have anything positive to offer?

I think that ever since KESC was some how linked/related to WAPDA during Zulmat-ul-Haq’s time (I believe), things got really messed up for Karachi. No thtat KESC was a feather in anyone’s cap before that, but the real down fall started with their connection with WAPDA.

Also, is some good-for-nothing retired fauji the CEO of KESC or am I mistaken? Why can’t they have professional managers for KESC?

On top of this, unchecked population growth in Karachi.

I believe it is going to get worse.

    Mohammad the Lunatic / S,

Seems like you can actually write one or two full sentences in English. Keep it up and you will get better. Think of it this way : if you continue to improve your writing skills, you will be able to better explain your nasty bhayaanak dreams about Karachi getting destroyed and so on. In the mean time, do consider writing in Urdu or any other Pakistani language using Roman script if you are in a hurry to tell us about your previously cryptic idiotic gas-triggered bhayaanak dreams.

Why do your references to kingdom, cross, star of david remind me of Christian evangelists? Are or are you just dumb?

It’s really sad and PATHETIC to see how seemingly everyday threads about Karachi (such as this one: “Sleepless in Karachi”) break out into a communal & ethnic riot!

JUST IMAGINE the damage we Pakistanis are capabale of doing to EACH OTHER if we had a brawl on the streets, face-to-face.

WE TRULY ARE A DIVIDED & PATHETIC NATION (and deserve every bit of accolades we get from our neighbours and abroad). Grow up People of Pakistan and enjoy the hours. Clock is ticking away. PEACE.

Balma, how about you do not use the adjectives you are using with word Muhammad. Give respect to name atleast. You could convey all your points across w/o that.

  17. Faraz (unregistered) on June 11th, 2007 @ 6:35 am

    Agreed with Imran.

Bijli tu dur ki baat, we are still feuding over pointless ethnicity issues, things that date back to 60 years. What the heck people? Given the mindset and attitude of (some of) the people on this thread, I think they deserve the misery of loadshedding, water shortage etc. It would be an complete waste to spend precious resources on these hate mongerers.

What a friggin bright future Pakistan has what you educated people around.

  18. Concerned (unregistered) on June 11th, 2007 @ 7:08 pm

Good to see that ppl are still fighting over Muhajir and Punjabis. The ppl here are supposed to be educated, show a little respect for the other guy yar.

Agreed I am not a big fan of the Punjab province but some of my best friends are punjabis. I am sure all this is true for you guys too. Then why do u diss your own brother.

    ******** My comment:

I believe Muslims today are the least creative people on the face of this earth. Every other child born these days is named Mohammad. This means that most idiots, daakoos, criminals, and bayvaqoofs in the Muslim world and Pakistan are named Mohammad.

Instead of telling me to show respect, I guess it will be a better idea to tell Muslim parents to not name their kids Muhammad all the time.

And if someone by the name Mohammad is writing idiotic posts, do you want me to refer to him as Hazrat Muhammad or Janab Mohammad?

  20. SELF (unregistered) on June 12th, 2007 @ 5:02 am

Muhammad second most popular name (in UK)

  21. Obi Wan Kenobi (unregistered) on June 12th, 2007 @ 9:06 am

Balma, I am not asking you to respect one for his name. I am asking to respect “name” Muhammad. How about you start sentence with Muhammad and then use all cursings with pronouns :-) if you just have to use them at all. Just give a thought and if you think it is not worth it then no hard feelings my dear friend, we all are different and I would understand that.

  22. Balma (unregistered) on June 12th, 2007 @ 7:45 pm

May be I don’t know what you are trying to say.

I believe Muslims should stop using Muhammad as a name for male child for a couple of generations. There are too many of them.

Actually, Emperor Akbar had banned the use of Mustafa, Ahmed etc for Muslims boys in India. He had also banned the use of name ‘khan’ unless, as a title granted by the mughal empire. That is in his days, not every one born in Pakistani territory was named Muhammad Khan :-)
I think half of telephone directory in any Pakistani city is Mohammad Khan!

  23. Balma (unregistered) on June 12th, 2007 @ 11:49 pm

    S / Muhaamad mia’n,

Finally you came up with a sentence which atleast makes sense – regardless of its validity.
    Mubarak ho!

Also, I noticed that you have started using roman script for Urdu. Great idea. Jo likhtay ho, kam az kam logo’n kee samajh mae toe aayae.
And, thanks for sparing us from your fatalistic dreams that you get when you eat too much pizza and too few vegetables.

    ******** My comment:

    Hey Cookoo,
Last time you said I was Indian Hindu, and I admitted. Toom bohut hoshyaar ho!
This time you added some color, OK I am both Indian Hindu and Indian Sikh. Now come to the point. Why do you write those trashy halucinated type dreams on KMB? When is the next toofaan coming to Karachi? Any bhayaanak Khwaab? Since you can’t have suhaanay sapnay because of your fiber free diet!

And, it seems like you write quite OK when you get angry…atleast I kind of understood what you said in your most recent comment…. so perhaps we should all keep you angry and hopefully you will be writing half way decent sentences. OR you can just switch to Urdu or Panjabi or something and we can all understand your mumbo jumbo.

OK, I hope this will get you angry enough: Are Indian Muslims and Indian Christians welcomed at KMB (as if you are the local badmash here)?

  28. mansoor (unregistered) on June 14th, 2007 @ 11:23 am

balma: please do not take the comments by this person “S” to heart,

everyone is welcome here on KMB and no one has the authority to say who can or cannot participate in this community.

Karachiites including women and elderly have been witness to fair elections without rigging.Karachi is not a rural area/ small town, where a wadera/choudhury could easily force the total population of his haris or servants or personal army to follow his instructions. These are all publicity tactics and excuses for others who are always rejected by Karachiites by a massive majority. MQM has roots in the people and its been growing, whether you accept or deny, its there to stay.
