Alive and confused

While walking towards my office building after parking my car, I noticed a gentleman dressed in shirt and tie, coming from opposite direction.

Just when he passed me, he uttered, “How are you, buddy?”

I thought maybe he recognized me from somewhere (I am bad at remembering faces, so it’s not unusual for me to run into people who recognize me but I don’t have a clue who they are). By then I had walked past him by a few feet, so I turned around and walked back to him, thinking he might be an old acquaintance.

“Are you in Alfalah?” was his next question.

“No”, I answered.

“I am sorry man, I thought you were someone else. I am sector Incharge of MQM. I was about to kill you, but God just saved your life.”

I thought it was a joke, but he was talking in a very serious tone with very straight face, without a slightest hint of smile on his face. It freaked me out a little, but I kept my senses.

“So tell me where you live”, he continued.

“Err, I live in ******* ******”. I didn’t tell him the exact location though, just the name of the area, which is pretty big.

“In a bangalow?”

“Err, yes” Does it make a difference if I lived in an apartment?

“Ok, I am going to be brief. Tell me what is your salary?” He was investigating me like I was the one who was about to kill him.

“Umm, it’s about ##,###” Again, I reduced my income to a great extent.

“The money that you have, does it belong to you or someone else?” I thought he was going to take away my money.

“I am not carrying more than 40 or 50 rupees.” That was the truth.

“The money in your bank account, is that yours or someone else’s?” Damn, is he going to make me withdraw money from my bank account?

“I don’t have a lot in the bank, probably five thousand” That was also not a lie.

“Ok, you can go now, I was about to kill you thinking you were someone else, but God just saved your life. If you ever need anything just come and talk to me.” Right, I am gonna think about you and you will just pop up, Mr. sector incharge. Besides, you were about to kill me. Does that make me want to ever see you again?

I don’t think so.

Thank God he didn’t take my cell phone. I just got a new one.

I don’t know if that guy was serious or just fooling around, but I wasn’t amused at all. One thing I realized though, was that he said he belonged to MQM and he was going to kill me (but I wasn’t the right person). Now why would he use the name of a political party which is loved and cherished by majority of the people? Why would he bring up the name which is known for its open-minded attitude, which is against killing the innocent, and which would condemn such acts of violence and terrorism at all levels. Did he just want to scare me of MQM? Is it another conspiracy?

I am totally confused, but still alive.

Now this is what i say clean work. See i’ve been telling u all that us, mqm, never kill but only do target killing and that too we verify b4 pulling the trigger. we achieve our purposes and objectives and plan out each event immaculately. otherwise mr. umar u wudnt be ‘alive and kicking’. hence, moral of teh story. support us, teh mqm, and tell us whom to kidnap/kill/torture. we guarantee that the same target will only be focused. 0% variation. 100% money back guarantee.

The same thing happened to my friend once. He was in a bus when a man came and sat next to him and asked him almost the exact same questions. He however ended up giving his cell phone to that guy. The next time some ask you if you are Aslam or that you work at some company just give him a long stare and tell him to **** off. Don’t talk no more.

Just out of curiosity, why did you respond to his questions. After all he has just told you that he was going to kill you isnt that enough reason to zip it up and top toe away from the dude?

why did you respond to his questions?
exactly..why you chose to stay there and give info, instead of running away?

As far as MQM is concerned their sector incharges are normally from same area and well known to locality so they are not assigned duties in their own locality. One advice is to get to know atlest the name and appearance of sector incharge. MQM sector incharges are normally friendly to neighborhood people unless you indulge with any dispute..this is primary strategy of MQM (and all other mafias )

    hahahah
    LOL
is this a joke or something ?
MQM sector incharge will disclose his identity??
    Grow up
do some propaganda that is worth while.
A culprit never discloses his identity nor ever tell who is he
Grow up we live in karachi not in any Pind or something where people can beleive such crap.
if you have the right to Open any blog on this Blog Service do it for constructive reasons not for doing propagand against a party loved and voted by millions.
The false propaganda will results in Failed strikes like the one occured today where MMA and PML failed to do strike in karachi and people of karachi rejected the call for strike

    Peace !

that B.S. why would MQM be loved by millions. they are a bunch of goons who terroize karachi. that fat man altaf sits in london while trying to act as if he would care about karachi and its people. all these people are corrupt and money hungry. A bunch of ignorrant people who have nothing better to do, and who like taking money from the poor and putting it in their own pockets. Man, “God bless not amreica but pakistan” for its corrupt government. I won’t believe anything good coming out of the elections, unless i see change with my own eyes, i’m sick of hearing fake promises and lies. Yes i’m not from karachi i’m from america, but that past 2 years that i have visited i have seen nothing but going down hill. It’s sad to see such a beautiful country go down so fast. It sad to think what western media portrays my parents country as being poor and ridden with disasters!
I truly love karachi and the fact that all y relatives live there, but it is for their future that i am worried about!!
God bless everyone!! big props to all who live there

This story, if it is true and if MQM guys are so dumb, reminds of early 70’s when every ghunda and lafanga of a mohallaa will claim membership in Peoples Party. In fact, they thought they could do more badmashi and ghunda gardi since no one will complain about them because of their membership in PPP. I still remember their names and faces….probably ab tak to mur-maraa gayae ho’n gae!

Of course, PPP had its own proper ghundaas, but I am talking of regular badmash joe who also started claiming that he is a PPP member.

Some at the forum or blogs i got impression that MQM followers think that we are blaming MQM because of media. Pal, I born &lived in Karachi for more than 2 decade. And to decide what MQM really meant for I don’t need any media . I know it for sure that MQM is a less of political party and more of Mafia and Gangsters.

Few of the TV channels are supporting MQM. So, should we not listen to them also? Media reported that 1 out of 500 terrorist attacks in Europe in the span on 2006 was done by a muslim. Should we not accept this too? The fact is you will get both true and false, you will listen both what you want to listen and what you don’t. Its a personal understanding which would work. In case of Iraq, Iraqis don’t have to rely on media, they whats happening better. And in case of Karachi, Karachitese don’t have to rely on media, We have seen what happened in karachi.

Comeon guys we all knw who is behind the 5/12 massacre, its time to think above ethnic background & no more blood of any Muslim Pakistani to be spilled on the streets of Karachi, else we shall witness a day that will be more devastating(God forbid) than the 8th of October, 2005.

May Allah (SWT) protect us from idiot politican & terrorist MQM,greedy and corrupt Army generals.Ameen

i think that person claiming to be sector incharge was doing so only to threaten you and extract information about you, i fully agree with the advice that bittertruth has proposed.
one more thing , it is better to maintain neutrality of the posts, this posts looks more like propaganda against the (already deteriorating) image of mqm. there wont be any damage to mqm but you will loose your credibility.

dear would you know who are behind the massacres of urdu speaking people in 1965,1973 on 12May 1977,1986,1988,1990and after an Army Operation ?
DO you know how many Urdu speaks died in those massacres ?
Have you ever tried to find who did that ?
Have you ever asked why there is a Quota System for Urdu Speaking people ?
When you got these answers you will know for yourself who is behind 12 May 2007 incident.
No party in the world who worked so hard for the last 5 years to make his Vote Bank all over the Pakistan and worked day and night for the development of this city will do such stupid thing.
Thanks to the Great People of Karachi they are with MQM and Altaf Hussain and the Flop Strike today proved this once again as in 2002 MMA was the second largest party in karachi and their strike call that has been given against MQM, failed today shows no one from karachi supports them against MQM.

Have Peace and Open your Eyes and Minds.

    @ALI
i think you asked this question to MQM ,from the day one MQM is crying military operation against them(MQM) then they cry all over the world that military is killing the so called innocent karachi civilians etc..
and if that military has killed so many innocent workers of mqm during the 90s operation then why they are today sitting with them?? what justifications they can give for the lifes of so many of their workers..can they explain to their families that why they are sitting with the same army who has killed their own people.. why they are not doing any case against Nasir ullah Babar?? if he has killed their workers??
It means either they dont care about their workers, or army and babar has killed the right persons…
to support MUSHARAAF is strange when you compare it with that the same army was responsible for the killings of MQM workers according to them..

and plz dont be baised or emotional supporting MQM ,and i m not even supporter of PPP,PML or jamati,My heart will cry on every innocent ppl who died doen’t matter he/she belong to any ethnic background.

And someone said..MQM the group that believes in Unity and peace and love and other crap…U seriously need to see the facts mister..MQM has been a mafia group and has been behind numerous killings the recent being the 12th May mayhem that they created for no reason

well this is really horrifying incident and i hope u have recovered from it,

one amazing part is that he didn’t took any of your stuff, (which is a sign that he is not from MQM )

a similar sort of incident happened to me not once but twice,

its a 10 min walk from bus stop to my home … it happend in the evening when i m coming back from office … there is car having two men and two women … who seems to belong from gilgit or northern areas and looking for some one … car stops by me … and one person ask in a very harsh way if i m salim and coming from goli-mar … when i refused they ask for my nic and threatened for some ver bad results … i pulled out my wallet … which they grabbed from me … checked everything in it … then checked my pockets … my cell (all this happenes while they remain in the car) … returned all the stuff and then … they just went away …

this happened to me twice and i was unable to avoid it the second time, it was really horrifying and humiliating, and i hardly get rid of its feelings

Umar in big cities a person should always be careful and alert to stay safe. I hope you have the little common sense tht is a must for survival in the Big town. Like all other readers, I am also confused and worried. If I say that your story sounds like a typical anti-mqm propaganda then may be I would sound like a beast. But then I can not totally agree with the story. Honestly it appears just as fake as the MQM sector incharge assigned to kill some one and he asks them “how are you buddy? “.

One day while I was at my shop a guy came and asked me for 50 rs so that he could catch a rikshaw and deliver the medicines to his ailing mother in Abbasi Shaheed. When I said no, He threatened me that he works at Nine Zero, and I better be careful from now on. I laughed on his face and told him that I have worked in London with the Bhai himself so he can ******. I have seen guys who claim to be ministers nephews, Rahman Dacoit’s partners, fake journalists, and thug policemen. Growing up in a big city you must learn to identify these people quickly, and if you can’t you better move to some place smaller and less risky.

And this makes no sense at all either:
“Ok, you can go now, I was about to kill you thinking you were someone else, but God just saved your life. If you ever need anything just come and talk to me.”

Remember you were the one who turned around and walked back to him. So he wasn’t going to kill you. He was walking away. And in fact he greeted you like a friend.

Umar, please explain this, otherwise anything you write in the future will have no credibility as far as I am concerned.

Anyway, after reading your “expert” opinions, I am starting to believe that he did not belong to MQM at all, rather he was just using their name to scare me or something. @ ASA!

I dont get your point !!! Both ANP and MQM rejected that the 12 May incident had nothing to do with ethnicity of the people ! nor was there any statement by any of the Karachi leader of any party regarding the voilence being linked with “ethnic problem” Why the heck do you guys think the incident was ethnic one???
We the people of Karachi have not felt any ethnic tension !! But the MEdia kept on commenting that this was an ethnic and racial incident !

Although I am not a supporter of MQM, but I can clearly see that this was a conspiracy against Karachi and MQM both ! this was done to destroy KArachis Peace ! and Why would MQM do such a thing when it was incharge here and was spreading out to whole of the country !!!! think logically !!

The Lota walas in tha Punjab had been trying to close down the MQM offices in Punjaab since one year !!
It was bound to happen after such an incident !!

Lets not forget the Partying going on in Islamabad while Karachiites were MAssacared !! ( I was in Islamabad that morning and saw the whole preparation there)
Now you tell me ! in whose favour had the event taken place??

Get a breath. Its not possible that someone discloses his Identity before doing such criminal act. Even a common sense person can evaluate the truth behind this story. Either its just a fake story or if it is truth than I am 100% sure that someone from opponent party used this dirty trick just to damage MQM’s image. I am not a big fan of MQM but as far as I know all parties have their fighter wing and they do all kind of criminal acts just to fulfill their needs. Even religious parties for example Jamat-e-Islami is one of those. I am a victim of this two face party as its terrors once trapped me and my friends in NED hostels and wanted to kill of us. Thank God to rangers who saved us. I think who ever studied in any of the Karachi’s profession institution can confirm that Jamiat is the one which always used weapons for implementation of its rules. I know Jamiat’s terrors very well as one of my friend was too in and he told me every thing what they do when they want to pressurize other parties. They kill one of their supporter (most of the times they kill someone who started opposing them) and they organize a big funeral and publish stories and bring people on the road. Anyway it is too long now I have a lot to say but I can surely tell you that parties use MQM name just to damage its fame and do their criminal acts.
