Against the tide

Few months back i came across a documentary on TV about a school. The facilities & environment inside was as if its just another school for a well-off locality in Karachi. But soon i could see the outskirts of Karachi where finding basic necessities was a herculean task. I wasn’t able to watch it all but i decided to search it out. Although i knew about TCF ever since 99/2000 but i never knew the quality of their work is so high & the dedication & that too in a seriously-in-crisis sector motivated me to find more on it.

I request you to share these video’s because even if they motivate one person it will be a great achievement as qatra qatra darya bunta hai. I wont copy info on TCF here as their informative website has it all. The video’s speak for themselves about the quality of the work & the fact that how well a noble mission works out if privileged section of the society jumps into the humanitarian bandwagon. These people definitely need our appreciation if nothing else.

Their website has all the info you require.
    Also check this link :-

If you want to educate a child till Matric you only need to contribute 100k (Nothing i guess considering the difference it will make in ones life)

At the left side on menu you see an option that says ” How you can help”. Check it for donations and volunteer work.

You may also contribute via paypal. Just send the money online or better add monthly re occurring payment. It will just come up in credit card bill and you would not even notice that where few dollars has gone.

Friday occurring on the 13th day of any month is considered to be a day of bad luck in English, German, Polish and Portuguese-speaking cultures around the globe. Similar superstitions exist in some other traditions. The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia

  17. zee (unregistered) on July 13th, 2007 @ 11:01 pm

IMRAN: Friday the 13th is cosidered to be a very BAD day. It’s said that this concept came from Night Stamplers who are now known as Free Masons. The Church elders ordered to burn a lot of the then night stamplers alive. It was late when all the night stamplers regrouped and emerged with a new name the Free Masons (who are not ruling the world)

arifa, i can understand why are you bringing your teeth issue again and again because you know that there is a dentist and a student on board and you are seeking ways to get mufta treatment.

I warn you that Dr.Awab is very expensive. Mujhe apna daant nikalwana thaa, meyne estimate pocha tu itna zyda tha k meyne MUKKA marker khud he dant torh dia. Kam Kharch Balanasheen

talking about teeth, oh my God, i forgot, i had to brush this month.. LOL..

  26. Arifa (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 1:31 am

@adnan siddiqi: no worries my teeth are fine….. and no mufta for me unfortunately. I am trying to make the most of what I pay every month in insurance, so I go to the dentist dutifully even though I don’t need to. I think I just go there for the LAUGHING GAS (this is the Pathan talking):P

Dr Awab? My mamoon went to a dentist by that name to get a new bateesi.. he loves it :) he is insisting that my dad go to him too.

I am not writing any comment rather asking you guys a favor. I am associated to the Department of Psychology, University of Karachi. Currently, we are conducting an online research that will help understand attitudes and shift in attitudes in different situations. A website, has been launched.

Can you people fetch some moments to visit and register (fill the questionnaire) your responses. Average time this questionnaire takes is 20 minutes; however, individual differences may make a difference. Study requires responses from both the sexes (and all genders) from all ethnic groups, with an age bracket of 18-60y, and education above matriculation.

So, please pay a visit and make others as well. I will appreciate if you report bugs, broken links etc.

    Much Thanks.
    Visit please

ARIFA: Thanks for the correction. I had read it long before and well, didn’t really remember the spelling. Hehe, thanks a lot! :D

  36. zee (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 7:26 am

Amazing videos! I feel so sorry for these children and I am thanking Allah that I am so damn lucky to be born in a family that could afford to send me in good schools. I am defenitely going to contribute to this cause. These children deserve a great future. If only 10% people from only Karachi could converge on such a platform, we could do a LOT to get more of such schools open here in Karach and also in other parts of our province. Bohat khushi hoye magar bohat dukh bhi hoa yeh sub dekh kar. Ham 200 saal peechay hain duniya say… 200 saal!

ARIFA: Why is everyone after your teeth? :S Wazzz ‘appeenniinnggg heeeaaaarrrrr?

  38. Arifa (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 3:00 pm

@ZEE: About the spelling… It SOUNDED right so that was ok……I do that all the time.

About my teeth, I am not too sure… I guess from lack of anything else to talk about. But it was interesting to learn that a gentleman thinks that it’s ok to have rotten teeth as long as you are fair. :)

    “Night Stampler” :D khekhekhe! :D

Sowie, but I thought it was funny … not in a making-fun-of-you kind of way … just a … ummm … innocently-funny-made-me-smile sort of way … ummm yeah!

  40. Arifa (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 7:01 pm

@Bolshevik: if you SAY it . It DOES SOUND right.

  41. Bolshevik (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 7:26 pm

Nopes! stAmpler, as opposed to tEmplar (Pronunciation).

  42. Arifa (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 9:10 pm

@BOLSHEVIK: I meant Knight’s Templar. Equal number of syllables in the noun.

  43. Bolshevik (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 9:33 pm

    I hates grammar! I no-knows grammar!

  44. zee (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 9:37 pm

Sheeshh… see, the masons are such pain in the ass but they did the right thing by changing their names warna, I would have always thought they would stamp down every little thing each thing making us go back to the stone age! Sheeshh! Got some more info on Knights Templars over here.

Bolshevik: I had a good laugh too when Arifa did the correction! Yup, that does sound and look funny. But I had no idea they were Knight Templars instead of Night Stamplers :D hahaha Actually the later one would have been pretty dark and gothic and errr rather… hmm… cool?!

ARIDA: Fair as in if a person is being fair or not? Orrr does it have anything to do with you complexion? Which btw would be TOTALLY lame!

  45. Arifa (unregistered) on July 14th, 2007 @ 11:39 pm

@Bolshevik: apas ki baat hai main nay spur of the moment pur syllable wala rule banaya tha…..:P

@ZEE: seems like he meant FAIR as in FAIR AND LOVELY :p….. Broke should answer this one, he wrote it.
