And It’s A Legal Kunda, They Say!

http://karachi.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/07/LegalK-thumb.jpgWe were wrong when we thought that those road side encroachers are using free electricity. We were wrong again when we thought that all Kundas are illegal. Today a casual visit to a fruit thaila near my house revealed a surprising truth, the Thaila Wala had an electricity bill in his money box and when I examined this bill closely it turned out to be a hand written Kunda Bill. The Kunda provided to this particular encroacher is a direct pair of AC sockets fastened to nearby electricity pole with a nylon tape.

What is the legal status of such a Kunda Connection provided to an encroacher whose roadside shop it’s self is not very legal? How safe is it to attach a direct AC supply socket to an highly conductive (metallic) electric pole? How many of such Kundaz are posing a risk to people around the city and who is allowing such an absurd practice to continue? Are just a few out of many questions we all wish to be answered by the authorities at KESC.

I hope our authorities realize the danger these Kunda Connections pose to the general public and take strict action against such negligence.

On a slightly different note, it is sad to realize that these road side encroachers get nothing for free, they pay for their electric Kunda Connection, they pay bribes for the space they encroach and their status still remains illegal.

Lack of transparency, looting the nation and poor ethics starting from General Ayub Khan put this great country into this dilemma.Countries like Singapore and South Korea used to come and copy Pakistan,s 5 year plan. Those countries now are the developed respected nation. We are #12th failed nation in the world.
Our military complex is the biggest problem. We are not an independent nation our armed forces has us under seized.
What is the solution?Power turned over to people under the guidance of Supreme court Chief justice and having fair and free elections will be the start.Sending the chowkidars(army)back to the Barracks is a must.As a nation we have never flushed our toilets in last 60 years lets get started now.Yes it is going to be tough and stinky but Army has looted us worst then anyone else.

I love the stamp at the bottom of the bill: “Non-payers of the bill will be punished according to the Electricity Act of 1910”

    Wow!!!
