A Flawed System?

Guest Post by Kashif-X

Is there something really wrong with our system?

No, this is not what you are thinking, this is no luxury car showroom. These are jeeps doled out from our taxpeyers money to the govt officials. I had the opportunity to visit the Customs House last week, which is right across the Karachi Port Trust. To my amazement, the official car parking at the Customs House was filled with Pajeros, Double Cabin and Prados all on govt issued number plates.

Is this what we pay these corrupt guys our hard earned taxpayer money for?

TEETH MAESTRO In this country of ours being a tax payer means that you belong to an inferior class. Look around, the enormous incomes of the great land lords and Jagirdaar’s are Tax free. They get to be MNA’s, enjoy all the priviliges, drive 4 million rupees SUV’s and yet they dont pay a dime in income tax. Whereas, a fixed salary earner has his deducted at source. This is unheard of in modern day world.

This particular class of privilige hunters has promoted this pajero culture and have corrupted the whole society. Until unless these fellows are not brought under control either by Taxation or land reforms the malaise will continue. They also control the assemblies, so much for democratic change.

And to add insult to injury, driving around these mammoths in an already congested and smog-ridden city is bound to make our air a tad bit livelier to breathe.

Everyone at CBR is directly or Indirectly CONNECTED to some influential Military or Politcial leadership. For whom the late mohammed ali jinnah aka quaidq-a-azam worked to divide the sub-continent., the land reform & taxation structure which was in top agenda of late liaquat ali khan was Immediately adopted in the divided india, The abolition of jagirdari system, land was divided among those who worked and harvested on it.

Those who understood the DENT of that reform on their vested interest got united worked upon and murdered liaqaut ali khan,

since then, the Tax payer is suppose to FEED and Keep the ruling class HAPPY.

Equal distribution of Wealth is not communisim or socialism, it is about welfare of common people.

In India, the President and Prime minister travel in a locally assembled 1960s shape car.

In Pakistan, in reward for making us second most corrupt country after Nigeria, the govt awards the customs officials , whos salary is not more than Rs. 18 – 20,000 with SUVs !

Wow, this system really works for us

SESKEY you are right mostly, but equal distribution of wealth is also a pipe dream. What a welfare state should strive for is to provide equal opportunity to all levels of society giving fair chance to its citizens to improve their lives.

most of these jeeps and SUVs are impounded from orginal owners who ditch them when some duty valuation dispute arises and some times they’re confiscated outright.. these SUVs and jeep orginally don’t cost that much in international market and only here coz of high custom duty they cost alot..
