The Dengue Fever – Prevention is better than cure

The Dengue Fever cases are again on the rise after the rain spell. According to Daily Times, 1527 Dengue cases have been reported in a mere 2 month period!

The WHO has also warned that Dengue fever may turn into an epidemic in the next 5 months, as bad as Congo, SARS and Bird Flu if immediate preventive measures are not taken.

While we pray that the government takes adequate steps to eradicate this disease from Karachi and other potentially susceptible areas, more and more patients are admitted to hospitals everyday.

The best way to minimize exposure to the disease is taking every precaution possible. Mosquito coils, Nets, not letting the water stagnate, etc. This post shows the precautionary measures from the earlier outbreak of the same virus.

One of the easiest and probably the most effective preventive step that we can all take individually is applying “Mospel”. Please encourage everyone around you not to take this lightly!

I don’t know why people are taking Dengue soooo lightly. It can become a MAJOR problem in the upcoming months. The government alone can not do anything about this. True, they can fumigate and all but we as individuals have got to start taking care of our families. Prevention is better than cure indeed!
