Citizens Campaign to Reclaim Karachi
Yet again Karachi is in the midst of terror and violence. As citizens and stakeholders we have decided to raise hell and make a nuisance of ourselves. What we are aiming to do is to express our outrage and let our leaders know that we have had enough.
Join us is our struggle to reclaim the city of lights
Here is what you do to participate
- Wear a black arm band to work or school everyday for the week
- Change your Facebook picture to the black ribbon
- Put a black band on your blog or website
- Come to T2F on November 1st at 7:00pm to hear a young woman’s experiences about reporting from the front lines
- Join us for a peaceful protest at the Karachi Press Club on Saturday November 3rd at 6:00pm

Event Website : http://www.t2f.biz/karachi/
Sign up for the facebook event to also show your support or download the campaign poster
Usually women do these type of events….pink ribbon, black ribbon, and other BS.
@ Alam
Now I see why your comments have been deleted.
I think its a great idea.
Nice initiative!!! I wish i cud be there to join the protest at KPC……but anyways….
Good luck to everyone……, sincerely I Hope that the voice get heard and create awareness among the citizens of this city who are somehow lost in slumber…!!!!
Good work, keep it up. Hope it gains popularity.
make sure no one blows themselves up while protesting at the press club otherwise press will have another hot story to sell their crappy newspapers.
I would suggest every single person should protest with their clothes off, thats the only way you could be sure that they are carrying no bombs on their bodies.
naked protest will also attaract the international media, give it a try ;)
is there any agenda..how u plan to reclaim the city.. i suggest
1 STOP allowing any tom, dick and harry to block MA Jinah or Shahrah-e-Faisal.. be it for democracy, kashmir, or any show of religiousity. 2. STOP defacing the city with chalking, banners etc
who is coming to Karachi Press club????
I am sorry but I am not interested to be part of any such movement which is run by KMB’s Nazi bloggers who at one side seals others lips while on other hand they want to protest and insist others listen their voices. Hypocrisy at its best!
The sadist thing for me is that few of them had become like my friends and used to communicate with them almost daily off this blog. Most prolly they ain’t willing for such *cruel* and *baised* comment policy but since they are most interested to save their seats than raise voice and resign, I don’t put them seperate than those(Jamash,Urooj,Unaiza etc) who are actually messing things up and making this blog unhealthy for visitors and regular readers. Sorry but then you guys left no choice.

Comment edited by Teeth Maestro – Adnan with due respect where in this entire comment (strikeout area) do you see a discussion related to the topic. I leave it in place for you to reflect, comment policy cruel or biased is just the terms under which you post your reaction, if you don’t like it, too bad. But please restrict your comments ON TOPIC as any further comments on the comment policy will be deleted as it deviates from this topic.
“KMB’s Nazi bloggers ”
LOlzzzzzzzz… COMMENT POLICY we have a problem here…
Man you really are threat to this blog dont you see that Adnan?!
Nice jab though
NAZI Bloggers ( moderators )
:) haah great ranking
ribbon & ribbons :) let us hope that there is no blast at time ALLAH Keep You ALL SAFE!
Great idea. I’m all for it.
silver: have a difference of opinion by all means, but have it ON THE TOPIC instead of just diluting it with something other than whats being discussed. If you wish to negate the campaign, state reasons, give arguments whatever, but instead, dont make it about something its not, like adnan’s comment, in which he decided to go on in his personal tirade against us (yet again).
anyway, now i am going off-topic here.. :S
i like the idea of the campaign, and have already done 1 of the steps mentioned.. i truly believe we as a city need to make people in power understand that we will not stand for this, otherwise, it’ll just get bad for all of us.
“Join us is our struggle to reclaim the city of lights”
Reclaim from whom? MQM? Anyone else? What if they don’t let you reclaim?
I think you need clear targets like condemning violence, corruption in government and unfair use of resources etc….but even then who is listening in the power circles? If you become a nuisance, they have ways to deal with it.
Anyways, since intentions are good, good luck…
Mansoor, kindly keep your whining to yourself. I have stated REASONS why I am against such lame campaign. Even Dr had no issue with the reason I gave. If you can’t comprehend it then don’t curse me for your own lack of comprehension.
Adnan, Silver, and Self,
What do you guys want, if someone works good for the city you are against it, you always find some negativity in every thing which is done here. Looks like you guys haven’t got a public platform which interests you, why not you guys start a blog yourself. You all are smart so it’s time you use your energy in positive manner. It’s OK to agree to disagree. BTW I hear LMB and IMB have pretty lenient comment policy. Just for the heck try their patience and see how they respond then you know how annoying you have become.
PS. Hope you’re taking a screen shot of this comment too.
“What do you guys want, if someone works good for the city you are against it,”
I guess you missed a lot of action since those comments were deleted.
I do not oppose anything good being done to the city, I infact oppose hypocrisy.
This blog is not to serve personal interests (fame and ego) of its authors. Its about time we decided if its a blog for Karachi or some ego-booster for authors.
LOL @ Neena’s “PS.” Good one good one! :-D
Neena, in today’s world proves re required to refute any claims. You might be hibernating at the time when some bloggers were active against Musharraf and busy to collect proof against him. So I am doing same which is not inappropriate at all. It’s not anger. if protest is anger then lame reclaim movement is extreme example of Anger.
p.s: Take the print out and hang on wall of your floor and remember this lesson which should have been given you in childhood.
@ Silver:
I’m a journalist, and I’m part of this campaign. So is Beena Sarwar, who writes for The News. So are a number of other very senior journalists.
do u think by wearing colored ribbons, we can take our city back ?
Self, I don’t know what notion of free speech you claim to argue for but where does free speech allow you to abuse people.
Adnan on the other hand was not abusive but yes he is at the moment on a bash KMB agenda but I feel he just needs to cool down, he has been on KMB for so long that he also knows that he has gotten away with A LOT, but I think its just gone over board recently / or we are a bit tired of hearing him rant at different tangents.
Arguments are always appreciated here, and if you were to argue along the lines of the topic KMB will NEVER moderate, but in the recent past things have really gotten out of hand that then entire KMB team has unanimously decided to get tough.
If you don’t agree with our terms and conditions then too bad, hard luck. If you were to present your point of view in a civil and decent manner then I am all ears if not then chill out on the Junk folder.
I am now closing the comments as I have had enough of these idiots, go bark somewhere else
