This road I traveled twice a day, five days a week for 10 years.

The traffic is almost always this bad though!

Thanks God, no one has wasted resources in marking lanes on the road. That would have been a total waste.

I am talking the pre-pedestrain crossing bridge days…..I used to walk with my friend from my school (BVS) to the Plaza bus stop to catch a bus. Crossing M.A.Jinnah Road (or then affectionately known as Bunder Road) was not much of a hassle as traffic was far more civil in those days.

Buzurg Shamsi, I am not as ancient as you seem to be, but a project called Jason Center was announced near Garden Road/ Bander Road intersection in late 70s at the site of old tram depot. May be the same spot that you are talking about.

I believe it was either Jenica Center or Jason Center that was to be built over the Tram Depot.

I used to fancy the ad that would come on the TV for the new construction project as the jingle they chose was Jean Michelle Jarre’s “Oxygene”

yeps am ancient in terms of Karachi, i was at Cantt Public School and facied tram alot, rode it few time before it was shut down in 1975.

RIMPA PLAZA is on the site of MTC yard. (:

Next to it is NOW GUL Plaza and

the NOW vacant 30 acre plot next to it is disputed property. IT WAS planned as some of concrete structure still exist.
Basement + 6 floors and a Roof top open air food court – as Karachi City Sports Complex with 6 segreggated olympic pools, 4 segregated Gyms and 100 Snooker table club, 2 volley ball courts, 4 basket ball courts & training centre – with Zero Comercial outlay.

What are you trying to prove shamsi? that you are even older than we all thought?

BTW, so what happened to the gym plan at the exact intersection of Bander Road and Garden Road, the one you are talking about. I think instead of me playing in that gym, it will be ….Kaun jeetaa hai teree zulf kay sir honay tak… I still remember passing that spot in late 70s and telling my dad, that, pita jee, how wonderful will it be to come to play here. abaa huzoor smiled and chup rahae, manzoor thaa pardah teraa.
