The Dawn Blog

Seems like the big wigs of the journalism industry have realized the power of blogs! The latest offering by a news giant comes in the form of The Dawn Blog, published by Dawn Newspaper. A very encouraging move by the company and an opportunity for the masses to come and discuss news items they publish.

In a similar move, Jang Group’s Geo TV also started a blog recently, but so far has failed to deliver content on it. The Dawn Blog is ripe with nicely written articles and is updated on a continuous pace with stories filed under various categories.

its a good effort and by the looks of it – will definitely make waves – I am confused are these exclusive for dawn blog articles or are they copied over from the actual pages –

In all honesty Id rather see the main site develop itself into a paper + blog allowing people to comment – a separate effort is like ‘filling in a void’ but not actually helping the main site forward.

All said – great work DAWN.

Good job by Dawn to come up with the blog. They actually have a revamped site planned but bugs and the likes have delayed its official launch by over 2 months now. The blog, i think, is serving as a makeshift alternative…although the subbing and language-usage on the blog is atrocious to say the least. Not what I expected from Dawn.

    >>>the age old question on kmb: what does this have to do with karachi? :)

    Hmmm…maybe because DAWN is Karachi-based, genius !?

Mansoor: The problem is that MB terms and conditions clearly say that the author should be residing in a city where he is blogging. You see no problem with that? Now please do not tell me that you visit Khi. too often. You are not in Karachi and you should leave the seat as Umar left couple of weeks ago. But no, this is Pakistan where people like you come on streets to protest for any thing but when it comes to one self then there are no rules. Happy blogging my man.

obi wan: you have a right to say what you want, although i would’ve preferred you have checked your story before hand. I have been co-captain of KMB for over 10 months and when i moved to isb, i vacated that spot.

i have, however, converted my author status to guest author, since yes. i do visit quite often (4 days out of a month i’m still in khi) as well as Lahore (2 days a month atleast) where i ALSO have guest author status. My home city is now islamabad, where i have author status.

i hope ur clear on that now.

so let me get this straight: most of the authors here r anti-MQM, and the rest don’t even live in KHI :)

I can "forgive" Mansoor, if he was born and bred in KHI, but otherwise, some serious spanking is in order.

Mansoor: "co-captain of KMB" , this MB domain is not your personal domain(learn some thing from Umer).Besides how convenient it is to say YOU have changed your status from author to guest author. I have been on this MB for too long and we never appreciated any one to post from other cities. You should leave the post and allow some one else to join this board who could write more about the town and if you want to write as a guest then you should contact any existing author to post on your behalf. But who am I talking to ? This is Pakistan where once person gets a seat, he would not leave till his death and would just go on for ever.

ehhe. LOOK who’s talking about terms and conditions and leaving seat?

PooPooHead, Ironically what was done by Mansoor has been done by head of the state as well by not following the constitution but then you have not courage to condemn it. Why are you scoling poor Mansoor? Atleast he’s persistent on what he preaches all the time(regardless of it’s part of education he got from some Army school)

whats the ppoint of a blog if eventually all the big news groups also jump in!!

after a few years they will elbow out everyone else.

and the 3rd rate blog would die out anyways.

iam afraid this may already be happening with KMB.

the content/topics on KMB are not up to the mark and there is virtually no check on the hate mongerers.
