PTCL – Broadband or Broad-burden?
I and many of my friends were almost-attracted to the print and electronic advertisements PTCL was coming up with last year. In fact I made few calls and the deal was almost done when a junior fellow at my previous office Mr. Junaid Khan gave me his long and torturous tale of PTCL’s broad band service. The strange part was(is?), even its hard to get rid of the connection. Since then it has become my routine to hear complains about it. Though I have seen some improvement in customer service for phone, PTCL DSL does act like broad-burden instead of broadband frequently. Also, I heard that they are planning to launch eVideo service in future. How many of you are happy with the broadband connection and how many have similar stories to tell?
One of my friend is using PTCL broadband and he is very happy with it. I think it depends which exchange u r using for broadband. My friend is using PTCL broadband from Gulshan-e-iqbal telephone exchange.
AOA all ,what a terrible story i thought PTCL has transformed now and must be performing well and competing other international telecommunication companies but sad it seems ptcl still in morass. i will not now opt for ptcl DSL wich i was seriously thinking. we learned one thing here bring new technology is not important until and unless the people working in company get serious towards their duties lastly it appears that PTCL is lacking in feedback system and teamwork.
well bad performance even in single area will cast a negative reflection overall.
Seriously what do you expect. This is Pakistan after all.
at work we use PTCL, at home I use link dot., Both are GREAT, am Happy so are my colleagues… we connect 14 Laptops through the wireless router at work and there is no connectivity / speed issues with PTCL. DSL.
East or West… MAXCOM is without a doubt… "THE BEST"
i have watched 350 movies on youtube in past 2 months and i am using ptcl broadband from past two months.
my ptcl connection was up along with a new line from pole to home within 48 hours of ordering the dsl using online form.

PTCL is very good.. Dont expect that when u get a package of 256kbps .. u’ll get the same speed when downloading !! cant explain it .. sumbudy from the community will be for sure be able to explain us ALL!!

i am using PTCL broadband for 7 or 8 months now and never had any major problems… no connectivity and excelent downloading and i download allot!!!

lolz. well i only mentioned my youtube activity. to add to it, i also downloaded around 15 movies from their entertainment portal :p now what do u say about that.
waisay i have also seen people facing issues with ptcl dsl so i consider my self lucky in this regard. i think line quality, distance and internal phone wiring are the factors which effect the dsl performance.

Using PTCL Dsl since 4 months…no problems whatsoever. Browsing,downloading or uploading, everything is up ot the mark.
Well i am using it since 14-15 days , it’s a different story that how i got the connection. In short is that they installed modem after 1 month of my application. After that few days waste in authentication issue. My pc was just connected but due to authentication issue they waste 10 more days. For home user i think it’s fine but for corporate people where time and commitment is everything then it’s a customer service nightmare. If you are under good telephone exchange then the problem will be rectified on time. There are some technical issues as well in dsl like if your number is starting with 68XXXXX then the chances are that you will face different problems during startup and you need to follow them up otherwise they will delay and delay. One issue with them is customer care issue actually i saw lack of coordination among departments. Complaint ’18’ is working in isolated mode. Like if you record your complaint on 18 then they just forward your complaint to your local exchange and forget. You have to call them and remind them again and again. Hopefully if the complaint resolve in 24 hours then it’s fine but if it’s delay then it never be resolved in month unless you call them daily and remind them again and again. And it would be another badluck if the problem is not from exchange side but in other gateway exchange or from Islamabad etc. Cause your adsl officer is only responsible for local exchange. There are no centralize Customer Service Officer nor any centralize 1-window complaint monitoring authority who will monitor the status of your complaint. Service is fine but service provider are question mark ?
I’ve been saying it for a while, as MB knows, my ptcl dsl runs like a charm. No complaints so far.
yeah PTCL DSL is good. the only problem is that they change the settings in the background and there is no place where they mention it. As a result, you have to call support and it will solve the problem.
I think they shud mention some where on their "entertainment portal" abt the current configuration, which all clients shud have. Thats they professional way
