fire on chundrigar road

a while ago, fire broke out on the first floor of Business and Finance Center on chundrigar road, opposite State Bank.

the building has been evacuated and and edhi ambulance is on standby. no fire trucks have reached the scene yet.

i work in the building behind the affected one, and many of our departments reside in the said. the fire seems to have erupted due to a generator failure.

more as it comes……

(just got our network back)
the fire seems to be under control now. on the last count, there were 7 ambulances and 3 fire engines, one of which was used in controlling the fire.

chundrigar road is closed for traffic and the building has not yet opened for staff / parking.

The NEWS reports it as follows :

Fire damages office on I.I. Chundrigar
    Wednesday, April 16, 2008

An office was gutted after fire broke out in a multi-storey commercial plaza situated at I.I. Chundrigar Road early on Tuesday morning.

The fire erupted in the office of Poly Products Company on the seventh floor of the Trade Centre, which also houses offices of banks and private firms near the Shaheen Complex.

The fire brigade staff received information about the inferno at 7:31am and one snorkel and three fire tenders rushed to the scene.

It took them two hours to completely douse the blaze, which damaged the office records, computers and other articles but luckily no loss of life was reported.

It is believed that the fire was caused by an electric short-circuit. The company was insured.

But its not near Shaheen Complex.. its between National Bank Head Office Building and Bank Alfalah Head Office Building… Road between tower and National Bank HO was partially closed down and the traffic was redirected to MA Jinnah Rd.
